Water washes out the toxins in your body, your body is made up of 75% water. Sodas and juices have sugars and calories that add up to fat, but water is just water and it's very good and healthy for you. Simple as that!
Much Luck.

on top of current answers, water is used in all chemical reations. more water means faster reactions which means faster metabolism. but be warned, your metabolism works at a rate that is maximized before overcasual water consumption takes place.

hey

the answers below me are severely incomplete.

water cleans out EVERYTHING inside your body. all the food particles left over, as well as sugar from soda, etc. it just removes it, and you urinate it out.

water is the best alternative drink because it clears out everything. would you rather clog up your body and slow down the rate at which you burn things, or speed it up just by drinking a glass of water? your body is like a pipe.. if you keep pushing stuff into it and clogging it up, it's gonna stop working, or not work very well. but if you clear OUT the bad stuff and put good stuff in, like unclog the pipes, it will work fast and do it's job very well.

by drinking 64 ounces of water a day, you clear out the bad stuff and make it easier for things to be digested. water speeds up your metabolism up to a point, so you burn more things throughout the day. and water, in addition to all the wonderful things it does, also fills you up! so it also cuts down on snacking on bad stuff cause you're full. so if you're ever superr hungry and crave those chips, drink some water and you will feel full and refreshed.

well the water would be a subsittue for like soda or power ade or something, so it helps you loose weight by not drinking other stuff, thats how i see it.

It stops you from dehydrating, but drinking too much water puts you at risk of water intoxication, which can be fatal.
Water helps you to loose water weight/weight is just a myth, sorry.
It just detoxs your body and helps keep you healthy.

really i'm not sure that its as much of the water itself as it is other things. for instince, water is really really healthy and a good alternative to pop and gatorade and stuff. so drinking water is healthier, which makes you more healthy, making you lose weight. so in a way its not the water making you Lose weight, but its helping you keep off unnecessary calories.
