splits!

Question Posted Thursday May 17 2007, 8:32 am

I can do my left and right splits pretty well, but im basically a centimeter off the floor, and I need to be able to do them in like 2 weeks. Ive been working on them for a really long time, and for some reason my progression has seemed to slow. What is a really good strech for left and right splits? thanks =]

I know how you feel. You really don't want to push yourself too hard or else your leg muscles will really really hurt. It helps if you stretch at any opportune moment. When you're just laying on the couch watching tv or doing homework, do your splits. This seemed to help me. -Kristen.

try doing over splits.. get a mat or something to prob your front leg on while doing a slip... this will allow your body to stretch more than it would during split making a normal split easier

trust me it works wonders!

alright well i am an assistant coach at a gymnastics academy and all of my girls used to have trouble with splits. so i took a mat (u can use a matress or even a bottom stair) and i made them put one leg on the mat and one leg on the ground and go down as far as they could. I made them hold that for 3 minutes and then do the other leg for 3 mins. then do the same thing for both except switch so the back leg is on the mat. it sounds confusing but it really works =]
