motion sickness

Question Posted Sunday May 13 2007, 1:24 pm

I'm going to Six Flags in a few days with my friends. I'm usually not the type to ride roller coasters, but now i really want to ride some. The problem is, I don't know if i have motion sickness and I'm scared I might get sick. I've gotten sick on rides before, but that was because they were rides like the tea cups in disney world/land. My question is...what do I do if I do start to feel sick on a ride? Is there anything i can do to even prevent from possibly getting sick at all, like taking a medication? And last, if you're nauseated, what are some tips about how to feel better?

if you get sick during a ride, it really helps to close your eyes and SCREAM during the drops. when there are no falls or drops but you are just going really fast concentrate on breathing deeply. also avoid eating foods that make you sick, and dont eat too much sweets cuz that can upset your stomach.

hope i helped!!

typically, if you don't get car sick, you probably wont have a problem with coasters.

Teacup type rides are different, cause its all circles, and basically makes you dizzy as hell. That happens to me too.

If you're worried about it, take a non-drowsy Dramamine, they work wonders for my sisters.

If by any chance you do start feeling light headed, nausiated, or what else, get something like Ginger Ale, or fruit punch and/or crackers or pretzels. These types of things settle stomach acids. Also, sit down, it may also be heat, or exhaustion getting to you. That's the worst. So stay hydrated and cool while you're at an amusement park

Have fun!

I've got this problem, too. It really sucks, but here's what I do:
Dramamine (pronounced like that, sold pretty much in any convenience store and places like Walmart/Kmart,ect) really works. Warning, if you're not moving around alot, though, you'll get tired. But it really does work, I take it on the way to Cheering competitions and stuff. :)
Also, make sure you eat before this, not RIGHT before, have enough time for the food to digest, because if you DO get sick, it wont hurt as much. Also, drink alottt of water before you go on the ride.
Salty foods help sometimes. :)

Hope this has helped at all!

When I get motion sick, I breathe slowly, and concentrate on that. Do not look to your side, just keep looking straight ahead. Breath like that for about 30 seconds, and you should feel better. To help, try Airborn medication, or even Peptobismal.

hope I helped, and have fun :]
