Just ask him to go someplace you would both enjoy.
Don't be afraid he will say no. If he does you'll still be friends. There are a lot of good sites with tips on how to ask a friend out. The ehow site is especially good. So if you want some good tips on how to go about it, check some of these sites. :)

First you have some one find out how he feels about you. If he feels the same way than you have to ask your self do you want to jepordize your friendship? will you guys last for a long time? If you decide that it's worth the risk then you siply tell him how you feel. Most of the time i tell ppl to take chances and things will get better but in these types of situations you have to think about the risks and if they are worth takeing because sometimes it ruins the best of friends but this one you have to decide on your own and no one but you and how you are feeling can help you answer this question.

Just be like look we've been friends for a while and i kinda started getting emotions for you and all I do is think about you. Thers not a minute that goes by that i don't think of you or what your doing. Now this is what I am asking, "Do you have any feelings for me". And if he says yes then ask him if he will go out with you. I'm sure it will go really good for you and believe me if your as sweet as you sound then I'm sure he likes you. there are a few approaches you can choose from:
-you can straight out tell him online,in person, on the phone, or in a note that you have feelings for him and ask if he feels the same way or just see what his response is
-you can ask a friend of yours who is also friends with him to ask him how he feels about you guys being more than friends.
-while hanging out with him you can just make the move when it feels right..go in for the kiss or rest your head on his shoulder..bring up your feelings.
