can someone explain to me like, the difference between the imperfect and the preterite tense? and give examples of ar, er and ir verbs. i'm just really confused & google isn't helping. i can't ask my teacher anyway + she's totally weird and would probably confuse me even more. thanks :)

-AR
hablar - to talk
caminar - to walk
escuchar - to listen
ok there's a lot of other ones but those are all i can think of right now
the conjugations for -ar verbs are
yo (I) - o
tu (you) - as
el, ella, Ud. (him/her) - a
nosotros (we) - amos
ellas, ellos, Uds. (they) - an
-ER
same conjugations except instead of o, as, a, amos, an, it's o, es, e, emos, en
-IR
same conjugations except it's o, es, e, imos, en

AR
cantar -- to sing.
bailar -- to dance.
tocar -- to play [an instrument, not a game. a game would be jugar, i believe]
hablar -- to talk.
IR
escribir -- to write.
vivir -- to live.
vendir -- to sell.

P.S. I know how you feel, my spanish teacher is really weird too!
