There are some irregular verbs for pret. tense as well.
Ir/Ser = (Fui, Fuiste, Fue, Fuimos, Fueron)
Imperfect tense is something that was in the past that has no definite beginning or end. Something in general.
Such as=

I haven't taken Spanish in about a year and a half, so I don't remember examples of a preterite tense or an imperfect tense. But I know the verbs
AR
cantar -- to sing.
bailar -- to dance.
tocar -- to play [an instrument, not a game. a game would be jugar, i believe]
hablar -- to talk.
IR
escribir -- to write.
vivir -- to live.
vendir -- to sell.
I don't remember any ER verbs. =( Sorry. ]
Preterite is a past action that has already ended. Imperfect is a past action that has no definate ending or beginning. For examples go to this website: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
P.S. I know how you feel, my spanish teacher is really weird too!
Good luck && I hope I helped! ]
