Anger

Question Posted Sunday April 15 2007, 3:40 pm

Ok so I usually release some of my anger during football and wrestling. Now those are done. I need some ways to release the anger but punching a punching bags does not help. You have to understand i am 6'4 310 and strong i am always carefull cause i can actually kill someone and i am afraid that i will, and i really dont want to kill someone. I dont feel that i am going to kill someone not like that bu i keep my self calm all the time and all the anger is inside built up and if someone pushes the wrong button. god help them. I am not a pretty sight when i get mad which is rarly theres not many people if any who dont like me but still. So if you could help, i dunno meditate or something which i dont know will help but something.

Have you ever tried letting your anger out on paper? Writing is like a form of therapy for me. Any time I'm angry, stressed, depressed, whatever, I pick up a pen and write about it. Whether it's in lyrical, journal, essay, random word form, whatever, it doesn't matter. A piece of paper can't judge you, and it's totally private, so I've found I can espress thoughts and feelings that I normally would never ever confess to anyone. I don't know if this works for everyone, but it's literally been a life saver for me.

mabey it could help if you open up to someone about how you feel.If you keep all your feelings botteled up youll for sure explode.Any small little thing that bothers you, complain about it to a person that you trust.Nothings worth you being so angry for, this feeling isnt going to get you anywhere so you need to chill a lil

I personally hate meditating. I've tried it as a way to get rid of excess energy/anger, and all it does is piss me off more.

If you can afford to take up a non-school based extra-curricular activity, try taking up a martial art. I did karate for 7 years, ended up with a black belt and became one of the calmest people ever.

It's not so much about beating the stuffing out of someone/something, it's about learning to focus and use your anger in a constructive manner.

Hmm...I don't know how old you are, but whatever. Research stuff about Buddhism. I'm not asking you or making you consider to convert (if you're not a Buddhist). I've found that they're the calmest people I've ever met. I'm not Buddhist and am not promoting it in any way. But they've got the massage stuff, yoga, meditation, etc.

Try joining a yoga class. Listen to 'sounds'of nature (they're this music thingy but not songs ... just sounds of nature: waterfall, rain, jungle, etc.)

Hope this helps.
Kay.
