Boys crying?
For some reason everytime I cry my best guy friend looks like he wants to, but he never does. Why is this? Why can't boys just cry? I've always wondered. Like what will it take to get them to cry? I'm just curious, thanks.

It really depends on the guy. my boyfriend will cry at almost any disney movie (esp bambi, its his fave :P)
it really depends on their reputation, and them wanting to be manly or w/e, it'd hurt their ego if they did in public, so most guys try not to cry in front of nebody, esp their friends, or girls in general

well it's just a matter of comfort. he might be mad at me for saying this [tough luck buddy =P] but i have seen my boyfriend cry.. and has cried with me on occassion. as i said- it's mainly about how comfortable they are with you.. but not JUST that.. also, the kind of person they are. whether they're sensitive, or a macho man. also, what they were taught as a child. but my guess is, that he doesn't wanna seem like a wuss in front of you and doesn't wanna look like a baby. most guys try to hold it in because they don't want to look stupid or 'gay'. why they care, no one will ever know. but don't go and try to make him cry lol.. maybe he just doesn't. i know some people who just don't cry. flat out- they just don't. they choose to exert their emotions in different ways, other than crying. so i'm sure he feels comfortable around you.. but it's probably just that he doesn't want you to think he's weak and that he can't protect, defend, and be there for you =] hope i helpedd ♥

Guys can cry, but choose not to. There's this whole thing with them about being manly & strong, and that if they cry it'll make them less of a man or a loser. So they choose not to. It's okay to cry, but they don't realize that because basically all their lives they've been told "MEN ARE STRONG, MEN DON'T CRY." It's just a thing. I watched a video on it, and I witness it first hand everyday since I have a brother, and a dad, obviously.
Some guys don't care & will cry, but most guys don't. It's just a guy thing.

When girls cry people feel bad for them. When guys cry they get made fun of. Maybe their ego can't handle that.

The reason boys aren't (supposedly) to cry is because it's not macho and some people think (rather erroneously) that its a sign of weakness in men. That's a HUGE MYTH that some people guys especially are hanging on to that belief.
The truth of it is that guys do cry and should cry as it's natural and a way of relieving all the stress, emotion, tension about something or to express a lot of joy. There's no reason a guy shouldn't cry but there's a reason above why they don't do it in front of others. Men are supposed to be tough and strongetc so goes the myth.
The other reason that can and does come into play here is that he may be trying to be strong and think he's helping matters by holding back his own tears and emotions. I hope this helps you. What an interesting and good question to bring up as lots of people will be helped by it.

Well guys think that if they cry it'll make them look like babies and they wont be 'men' and who knows i have never seen a guy over 13 cry so im not sure what it'll take

As a guy, it's not that we can't cry, it's that we don't want to. Guys don't like to cry in public because they will end up getting teased about it. It's just a matter of appearence, nothing mroe nothing less.
