Making a joke about it like the others said is a really good idea...especially if your boyfriend isn't sensitive about stuff like that. Here's another idea:

If you're ever with him and he doesn't have on cologne or right after he gets out of the shower or something...comment on how you like his natural scent. If he's paying attention, he'll probably get the hint.

For example, he just gets out of the shower (no cologne)...wrap your arms around him and say "Mm, I love the way you smell like this" into his ear. It could also initiate a heavy make-out session if you do it right. ;)

Hope that helps!

just tell him... don't leave him to wonder why you don't want to get close. I don't know how close you 2 are but i'd be funny about it like boo i think you sprayed one too many times. you could just ask him nicely like what cologne is this? it's really strong... then he might get the hint. <3

Just tell him.

Being subtle will only leave him confused and wondering why you're acting the way you are.

Just make a joke about it. Wave infront of your nose and say "Dang babe did you bathe in that or something? It's way strong," or something along those lines. Don't get worked up about ways to tell him.. I'm sure it wont offend him if you tell him straight up.

It really not that big of deal.
Perhaps you should just come out and tell him.
Don't tell him in a impolite way.
Just tel; him when its you two.
I'm sure he will not get offended.
he will be happy that you can be open with him
