Good luck planning and have fun! [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) [ turn-n-burn's advice column | Ask turn-n-burn A Question ]
littleblufirefly answered Thursday April 5 2007, 5:32 pm: Hi! My cousin just recently had a baby shower and when the invitations went out there was a note inside for everyone to bring a pack of diapers for a diaper raffle. The people that brought diapers wrote their name on a little card folded it up and placed it inside a hat. Later a name was drawn and that person got a prize. It's a great way to get a collection of diapers for your sister. Another game that we did was each person took a large piece of string and thought about how big around the mother was and tore it off at that point. Then we compared the string and the one that was the closest to how big around she was got a prize. We also did some crossword puzzles and a "unscramble the words". It was timed, and the person who got the most correct got a prize. I've been to other baby showers before and I remember playing a game where you blindfold them and let them try some baby food and they have to guess what kind it is. You also said what gifts... I assume to give to the winner of the games and not your sister? You could give them lotions or shower gels from Bath and Body Works (like maybe the travel size and not the full size). I've included some links with some games and other questions you may have. I hope this helps. Message me if you have anymore questions. <3 Dana

xWACKYJACKIEx answered Thursday April 5 2007, 5:20 pm: I got all these ideas from a site. But they're my favorite, and really cute!!
Games:
1. Guess Mom's Tummy Size: (Materials- String or yarn and scissors) Have each woman pull the yarn to the size they believe would fit perfectly around the Mother-To-Be's center of her pregnant tummy. After everyone cuts their string, compare the results to the Mommy-To-Be's actual tummy. Give a prize to the woman who is the most close! This is a baby shower favorite.
2. How Many Baby Items Can You Name: (Materials- pad of paper and pen for each woman). Have each woman write down as many baby products as they can name (bottle, blanket, pacifier, etc) within 5 minutes. Sure it is easy at the beginning, but towards the last few minutes, the women will start racking their brains for more :) Give a prize to the woman who gets the most baby products named!
3. Guess The Gerber's: (Materials - Gerber's infant food, pads of paper and pens). Take the labels off of the baby food jars and have the women at the baby shower guess the food (carrots, peas, sweet potato). Most fun to play up to 10 jars of different kinds of foods. If there is a tie, blindfold the women and have them taste one of the jars and guess the right flavor to win their prize.
4. Place The Baby On The Mommy: (Materials- Cutouts of a baby with tape and blindfold). Another one of our favorite baby shower games is the baby shower version of Pin The Tail on the Donkey. Blindfold each participant and then give them a paper baby to then approach the mom and place the baby as close to the tummy as possible. The one who gets closest to placing the paper baby on the pregnant tummy wins.
5. Guess the baby item: (Materials- any baby products and blindfold). A bag of baby items are placed in front of the mother-to-be for her to take one item out at a time blindfolded and tell her baby shower guests what item she has in her hands. This is really fun baby shower game when you choose some crazy baby toys or products.
6. Baby Sock Match Game (Materials - different color brand new baby socks and stopwatch) - Have two people at a time race to see who can match the most baby socks. Take 10 pairs of baby socks for each baby shower participant and give them 30 sec to match as many as they can. Make sure to separate the baby's socks before playing. A great way to have fun and also stock the mommy-to-be with new socks. Thanks to a baby shower visitor for this idea!
crissx33 answered Thursday April 5 2007, 4:51 pm: i agree down below. go for teenage things. lol. but also you can have a silly game. like pin the tail on the baby. or you can have a relay race thing where you can see who can change a diaper the fastest on a baby doll. or have an obstacle course with dolls in little strollers and have to do everything like go around obstacles. have a scavenger hunt where you have to find stuff aroudn the house or somewhere like pacifiers, stuff like that. or like have baby stuff and you have to build a tower or something. or see how many baby dolls diapers you can change in 5 minutes? i have tons more!! so just write back if you need any more =] my sister jsut had one too =] [ crissx33's advice column | Ask crissx33 A Question ]
XkittyOkatX answered Thursday April 5 2007, 4:48 pm: I'd go with really girly, teenage kind of things to do. It may sound stupid, but it's like going back to the 'old days'. Hahah.
Gifts, you may want to go with things your sister and the baby will really need first. If she's already got everything she absolutely needs, get the baby some toys, or maybe buy them a bunch of diapers, haha. It may sound stupid, but it will really come into use for once she actually has the baby.
