Now, you can't really do anything to help your hair grow. You can, however, prevent damage and breakage to make your hair LOOK healthier and longer. Such as avoiding ponytails, Taking vitamins, not brushing your hair very often, things like that.

My fiance has a sister that his a hair stylest.
She says the wrost possible thing for you to do is put your hair up. It breaks off the hair, and makes it harder for it to grow.
MissAnonymous answered Tuesday April 3 2007, 9:02 am: This does not help your hair grow faster. Neither does cutting it. So this is not true. Ask your stylist for some hints on how to "wear" your hair.

lauralaura answered Tuesday April 3 2007, 7:05 am: i highly doubt this. my best friend wears her hair up most of the time but it grows very slowly and i always wear mine down if i can help it, either straight or curly, and mine grows really fast. so no i don't think this is true. your hair will grow at a speed determined mainly by your genes and you just have to care for it to keep it in the optimum condition you can.
The_MoUsY_spell_checker answered Tuesday April 3 2007, 5:55 am: I've never heard this claim before, but I doubt that putting your hair up will really make your hair grow faster.
The only things that really affect how fast your hair grows are your genes (some people's hair naturally grow faster than others, and females' hair generally grow faster than males') and your health (if you have any deficiencies of nutrients, your hair won't grow as fast as it can).
However, putting your hair up will pull your hair out, which might make it look longer, but you'll also lose more hair than you otherwise would.
