It doesn't hurt because you don't feel it. The swelling does smart a bit, but that's why they give you painkillers. Going under is not weird. It happened way too fast for me. They put an IV on me and all I remember is looking towards my right... then I woke up.

Don't be scared, it will be okay. :]

Just stock up on soft food and soups.

Don't worry sweetie, now adays, it won't hurt because they put you to sleep while they pull it out.

I've gotten mine pulled out and it didn't hurt at all so don't be scared. =)

Just keep in mind that you won't be able to eat anything hard for a few hours afterward, so just eat something really soft like jello or soft bread. Good luck!!

♥

I'm basically copying my answer from a similar question I answered awhile back. Hope you don't mind...

I had one taken out about a year ago and the actual procedure was fine. I did it with just novocane so I didn't fall asleep and I remember everything, but I didn't feel a thing. It was actually kind of cool. It's ok to be nervous, but there's no reason to be scared. People go through this procedure all the time. Try not to worry, you'll do great. Sorry for not having any experience with laughing gas, but from what I've heard about it, there's a hole in your memory and that's about it. It's just like falling asleep and taking a nap. Nothing to worry about at all since you won't remember anything afterwards anyway.

Make sure that you follow all of the oral surgeon's instructions for after the procedure though. That's what's important. Rinse with salt water every day to prevent an infection and follow all the instructions on what kinds of food you can eat and when. I ate a lot of bananas, pudding, peanut butter and jelly, soft cookies, and macaroni and cheese.

After the novocane wore off it hurt. For a while. You should be perscribed some pain killers and if not, regular ones should work fine. Make sure you take them after the surgery even if it doesn't hurt yet. Ask your surgeon how long after you have to wait before taking them and take them as soon as you are allowed. Be prepared for it to really hurt after a few hours. Get some music, a blanket, or anything that can comfort you ready in case you need it. There's not much you can do for it except wait it out. After a few days pass, keep your mouth moving. Though it hurts a little and may make you look kind of silly, it helps a lot. It kept my mouth from getting tight and hurting a lot when I had to eat or talk.

I followed all of the instructions I was given and everything turned out just fine. If the instructions aren't clear or don't answer any of your questions just ask your surgeon. Call at anytime and you'll get the help you need. Good luck!!! :)

Ive had mine out some years back. I chose local anesthetic though, so I dont know what its like to be put under.

Some people have bad stories, and I know everyone was very intent to tell me how much it would hurt. The thing is I got through it fairly easily. I had them out Friday, and everyone said i would be unable to do anything in the weekend and probably not go to school Monday. I was playing tennis by Sunday (possibly Saturday I dont remember).

It does hurt, so you need to have good painkillers and also ice packs ready. Also for me my parents (who are doctors btw) made me rinse my mouth out very frequently to avoid food and such getting stuck in the cavities. The real problems come if the area gets infected, which happens often apparently. In my case it did not, I assume largely because of the frequent rinsing (I dont remember what they made me use, perhaps you could ask the dentist).

All in all nowhere near the nightmare that people warned me it would be (and I did have all of them out too btw). In fairness I recall my dad saying that in all his years he never saw anyone get over it as fast as I did, so maybe Im not the best example. However, whatever the case may be, there is no reason to be scared. You will have a few unpleasant days which, in the big picture, will soon be nothing more than a memory. Its nothing you cant handle, and with proper care and good painkillers you will be just fine.

Best of luck.

I had to get all four of mine pulled at once. It's really not too bad. Going under just feels like falling asleep. Afterwards you are really tired for a few hours but not really painful. And you'll get pain pills to take too. Honestly the worst part about it is trying to eat after the surgery. Get some pudding and straws because that will help. Really the only pain you ever feel is if you take a bite of food and it slides back onto where the wisdom teeth were. I wouldn't worry about it, it's not that bad of a procedure, and just about everybody has to do it. Good luck

You don't feel a thing. They give you drugs to make you go to sleep and when you wake up they are out. When the drugs wear off you might pain kind of like a headache. They give you painkillers so you are always sleeping an ddn't really feel a thing. You may not be able to eat a while so I would stock up on water and things like jello or pudding. Things that will be easy to digest. Other than that there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of.
