Adorkable answered Sunday March 11 2007, 10:36 pm: I don't agree with "hitting" dogs, but everytime he goes to bite, playing or not, flick his nose (not to hard) soon enough it will teach him that he is not suppose to bite period.
sugarplum07 answered Saturday March 10 2007, 8:50 pm: Everytime he tries to bite you, firmly push him away and say NO. If that doesn't work, get a small spray bottle and spritz him in the face with water every time he bites. That will annoy him and teach him that it's bad to bite (I have been told this by a professional dog-trainer and have done this with my pets. It works.). In the meantime, make sure he has lots of toys to play with and chew on so he won't get distracted with fingers. Remember, puppies usually bite because they are teething and it hurts them. dpsbar3 answered Saturday March 10 2007, 3:56 pm: What has always worked for me was if it is a large dog and he has his mouth around your arm just gently hold your arm in his mouth and push back slightly towards his throught and he will pull his mouth off your arm. Now, a small dog it's kinda hard to do that so I have learned if a small dog is biting, during mid bite take your other hand and grap it's top lip on the side and squeeze it alittle just enough to get it's attention you dont have to squeeze to hard. It may take a couple of times but it will work. Oh, you also need to make a sound that kind like dissapprovement. [ dpsbar3's advice column | Ask dpsbar3 A Question ]
Nallie answered Saturday March 10 2007, 12:35 am: Yes, it's play biting, but it can hurt the same.
This really works, trust me. When the pups mouth touches you even if the teeth haven't hit your skin yet...make a shrill or sharp loud sound such as "YIPE" or "EEEK" and pull your hand or whatever away. The pup will look at you like "What did I do?" Just do this way every time and soon the pup will learn that he gets dissaproval (in dog language) from you and the biting will stop. DearAbby92 answered Thursday March 8 2007, 4:39 pm: When he tries to bite you or someone, say NO, and hand him a toy. He will understand that the only chewing he should be doing is with a toy. Or, when he bites, put your hand in his mouth and I believe there is like a gum at the back of their throats that you should put your finger on. It wont choke or hurt them, its just uncomfortable.
killerkittens11 answered Thursday March 8 2007, 3:34 pm: I am a dog breeder so trust me on this one. Stick your fist in his mouth when he bites. Not hard, don't choke him, just enough to stretch his mouth a little. After a while of doing this persistently he will catch on.
