nipple piercing

Question Posted Monday March 5 2007, 10:57 pm

I am considering getting my nipple pierced, but I am only 16.. Do nipple piercings screw up your nipple or breast? (considering both of mine are still developing) And how bad is the scarring? Thank you!

No, they dont screw up your nipple if you take proper care of it. If it did screw anything up seriously, they wouldnt let that part be pierced. Ive had my belly button pierced for over 2 years, and Ive never had any problems with it.

It should be just fine. As with any piercing, the person doing it could mess up, but if it's done right, which in all likelihood it would be, there's nothing to worry about. There's always a concern with infection, but if you take care of it, there's nothing to worry about there either. Since you're 16, I would suggest you wait until you're 18, just in case wanting this is just a phase or something. Good luck! :)

Nipple peircings are a difficult peircing to take care of and they can take quite awhile to heal. This is a peircing that I would only recomend to someone who has had previous experience both being peirced AND taking care of the peircing. Any little thing, including (but not limited to) a tight hug or an undressing mishap, could cause issues.

I had both of my nipples peirced for about a year, however, they never healed and I had problems with both peircings, including pain and lack of feeling. Once I took the jewelery out and the holes cleared up, feeling did come back but I am left with rather obvious scars.

Though all peircings require much thought, I would give this one extra consideration before getting. :)

I used to work at a place that manufactured body piercing jewelry. I had my belly button pierced but later had the ring removed. Most people wouldn't notice but I can see the mark it left. A piece of body jewelry is thicker than an earring. In some states it is illegal to pierce anyone under 18 without parental consent.
Advise you against it. When I had my belly button pierced it hurt sooooo bad. I was dizzy.
If you must do it you should go to a reputable and sanitary place to get it done. Only an experienced professional should be doing piercings. It would not screw up your nipple if done correctly but later in life if you were to take piercing out you would have a mark on what is now your flawless breast.
Wouldn't you rather have growing developing breast than a nipple with a piercing? Also when you get a piercing you have to wash it everyday with antibacterial soap. Every piercing has a chance of infection.
