Should I become a priest?

Question Posted Monday March 5 2007, 6:04 pm

I've been contemplating becoming a Catholic missionary priest for quite some time. I'm scared to tell my friends and family that this is what I'm going to do. I'll be leaving a lot behind, but I feel called...

Absolutely! If this is what you feel God calling you to do, then you must obey Him and trust in his plan 100%, even if it becomes difficult. Pray for guidance and for him to show you His will in your life. You won't regret listening to God!

Good luck! :)

I'm curious what part you think they will object to?
Being a priest or being a missionary priest?

Regardless, you do what your heart tells you to do.
You're the one that will be living the life, not your family or friends. They will get used to it.

Have you talked to your priest about it? He may have some helpful advice on how to tell your family and friends so they will understand. He has been there himself.

If he has never done missionary work perhaps he can find some information for you to discuss with your family, or maybe he knows someone who can help you with that part.

Yes! definetly do it, i no you love your family and friends, but if you feel like God is calling you to do something, you have to do it, maybe one day some1 will go to a church service ur preaching at and because of you believe in God, if you didn't then that person , (and maybe alot more) might not come to know God. if you do, then that would be awesome.

i think its an excellent idea.
and if this is really what you want to do with the rest of your life, go for it! nobody should stop you for being who you really are. they should accept you for who you are. and i think you'll be great at it.
much love,
Lex.

if you feel that this is what you truly want for like the rest of your life, then you shouldn't worry. your family and friends should accept your descisons so don't be scared to tell them. and good for you if you do become a priest! that is a very strong and respectful thing to want.
