Hey. You can always make someone feel better by getting their mind off of the depressing subject.
Also, you can crack jokes about it, like "wow, what kind of loser would do something like that..." and you know, just make something about the situation funny. Like, "You don't need him, he wears tight pants and talks like a girl" haha or something like that. As for advice, just be honest and tell your friend what you seriously think she should do about the subject, even if your advice is kind of mean. Hope I helped ♥ Kathleen.

what i do i always try to make them laugh. thats my thing. i give them hugs and tell them that it'll be okay and it wont be that bad. they just want some comforting. thats about it but make them think of something that gets there mind off it but not totally off subject and random. give them hugs and tell them it'll be ok. thats about it. ask her if she feels better and make sure she is through the. thats all i have. good luck.

hey, well honestly it depends on what she is sad about. there are different things to do for different situations. i will list some and what to do and hopefully when she comes to you next time you will know exactly what to say and do.

breakup with boyfriend: these ones are usually the ones where you need to go to her house yourself with. dont bring a bunch of her other friends with you, shes not in the mood to party. surprize her by coming over, dont tell her that you are. you should call her mom and ask if shes going to be home at that time. if your not close with her mom, just her what shes doing that day. dont bring over flowers, chocolates, etc. its not valentines day and she doesnt want to be babyed. just basically watch movies with her and eat icecream. let her vent to you and tell her that she cant confront you whenever she wants to talk about the situation or just about anything.

relative, pet, friend, etc, passed away:
dont go over to her house personally. just politely say that your sorry for her loss and send her a card in the mail. also just tell her that if she wants to talk then your there.

thought of any other situations that i didnt mention? leave a messgae in my inbox and ill help.

It really depends on what she's sad about but as a rule, if you're lost for words, going over with a huge box of chocolates, a pile of DVDs and some Kleenex usually does the trick. If it would be inapropriate to do that in her situation (death of reletive etc) then sometimes it's just best to let her know you're there for her if she needs to talk and give her some space. Whatever the problem is, knowing you're there to support her will be a huge comfort in itself.
