Striaght edge and medicine

Question Posted Friday February 2 2007, 8:50 pm

Okay, I'm straight edge and have been for a while but all of a sudden I realized that medicine such as Advil or Midol or medicine of that sort is a form of legal drug. But straight edge is no drinking, smoking, casual sex and DRUGS.

Do medicine like that count as drugs or not? [Not using it to a degree where it turns illegal but for purpose like a headache or something]

yeah they're drugs. but they're pain killers. as long as your not taking them as a replacement as illegal drugs, then, your fine.

Straightedge is no drinking, no smoking, no casual sex, and no ILLEGAL drugs. Advil/Tylenol & Midol aren't illegal. If they were, they wouldn't be sold at stores. You can take them & it won't mess up your straightedgeness.

their drugs. but straight edge is doing illegal drugs. not taking pain killers (minus likee xtacy & morphine stuff like that) over the counter drugs don't affect your status of being straight edge

Yes, they are drugs. But there's nothing wrong or illegal about taking them for headaches or when you're sick. They are fine as long as you take as directed & don't abuse them.

Yes they are considered drugs, but doubtfully the sort you refer to. The drugs you are worried about are those that are abused.

Sometimes we need medicine to stay healthy. Penicillin is a drug, but sometimes we need it for infections to feel better. If you need something for a headache, I'm quite positive that it would be perfectly fine for you to take something to relieve your pain.

Take as directed on the bottle, and if you are ever given prescription drugs by a doctor, ALWAYS take as directed, and you will be doing just fine.

Using medicines as directed is not considered a drug by the SxE community.

Nice to see people actually abstain from drugs, smoking, drink, and casual sex. I don't partake in any of those activities, I just don't consider myself straight edge.
