Here's the thing I am 13 gonna be 14 in a month. Me and my brother are 15 months apart. he is 15. My parents let him do whatever he wants. I on the other hand don't get to do anything! I can't go anywhere with anyone anytime. And it has been this way for ever.
My parents insist they have to Know ( meaning have seen and talked to) the parent of my friend(s). On the other hand my brother can leave and only say Im going to my friends house I'll be back maybe tomorrow. My parents know my brother drinks and smokes weed. I on the other hand only smoke cigarettes, and they know this. It doesn't make any sense!

You parents, you, and your brother are quite idiotic. You're ruining your lives, and you and your brother are gonna die by 30.

Without tatteling on your brother, I suggest going to your parents and saying, "Mom/Dad, I feel like you treat me differently then you treat (your brothers name). I don't understand why he gets to do certain things that you don't let me do. I feel like you give him special priveleges. Is it because I'm a girl?" ... then REALLY listen to what they have to say. I'm sure you'll get your answer. [ thalpal's advice column | Ask thalpal A Question ]

If you the youngest and female thats a big part of it because your their baby. And you can get hurt alot more than your brother can. Because many your parnets think you'll get raped or pregnant or something like that. But usually parents don't worry about that stuff with guys.
Also, maybe you parents realized your brother didn't turn out the way they were hopoing and they don't want you to drink and smoke weed. So their trying to watch you and make sure they know where you are at all times so you don't ruin your life.

I dont know if youve ever seen Hogan Knows Best? Im guessing you have but thats a perfect example. Brooke is OLDER but has less freedome becuase shes a girl and her parents are worried that a guy is going to rape her or she's going to get pregnant or something. Girls ARE at a lot more risk than guys. Your parents are just worried about you.
Talk to your parents about how you feel and try to act very mature. Clean your room, do well in school, etc. So they know you are responsible and can go out without them needing to meet the parents, etc. Tell them youre fine and they dont have to meet the parents. But they DO need to have some info. Keep a cell phone on you. Keep it on. Give them the address of the house you'll be at, the name of the friend and their number, and what time you'll be back.
