FUN Question

Question Posted Friday January 12 2007, 7:40 pm

OK i need all of your opinions! i have to write a story, and i'm deciding between two plots. I need as many opinions as possible please! thanks
1. about a girl, 15 or so, her mother died when she was very young, over the summer she is in a store and meets a woman in her 30's, 40's, the woman tells her about a place up the mountain where she is landscaping this whole big beautiful garden like thing. The woman offers to teach her to garden in return for the girl helping out. they start to do that and become friend. All the while the younger girl is kind of seeing this woman as a mother figure even though the woman isn't doing anything motherly, they're just friends. In the end, she puts too much trust in the woman, and is disapointed because the woman like goes away without telling her or something else bad that she knows a "mother" wouldn't do. And it's basically about that, just how when people want something so badly they see things that aren't really there. She wanted a motherly so desperately that she clung to anyone and was let down.

2. a girl in ny city, her mother dies and she finds an adress of a family member(she doesn't know any of her relatives) they live down south so she goes there to find them. She finds out that her "mother" is actually her aunt her took her away when her mother went crazy. So it's about her learning about the south and meeting family and getting to know her mom.

which should i do? i'm better at descriptions than big exciting course of events. which one is more original and crative, and what should i do? does the first one seem like boring, like it's been done before and is too disney, cliche, boring?

PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE

I really want it to be well written

I like both of the ideas, and both of them would catch my attention, but if I had to choose which one I'd wanna read more, it'd be the second one. It's got a weird twist and it'd make the story more exciting.

I love both ideas but I think that the first one is the most creative and easier to follow. Even if everyone says the second one you will have a great story. heck, over time you could write both!

Love always*

Okay, I LOVE the first one. It doesn't sound disney unless you put a happy ending on it. I am on my knees begging you not to make it a happy ending because that would ruin it.

The second one is a teensy bit cliche, I think it would work better as a children's book. (Like ages 8-13)

Dangit, now I'm all excited about reading the first book. If you have a chance, could you maybe email it to me when you're done? Unless of course you're planning on getting it published...then just tell me the title!

IT's funny that you said the first one is sort of boring. My fist impression was something actually happened between them; the woman could find out something made her out of the friendship or something supposedly so secretive that got discovered because they are getting close and trust each other........and that could be a really good plot for the story.....

Second one is ok......it does seem to be written somewhere already. Some girl found out the mom she thought wasn't.....there could be secret behind it, but it's somehow old.....

I'm really looking forward to read your story when it's done. GOod Luck!!

DEFINITLEY the first one. [1]

But, the ending, it should be happy, eh?
You should probably at more so it has a happy ending, or SOME kind of an ending.

By the way, you're a great write. :]

The first one. If you're a good writer. If you aren't that great of a writer, go with the second one.

I personally choose the first one because it has potential to portray alot of emotion and whatnot. The second one is interesting, but it would be hard to organize on paper.

KatieKinns702 answered Friday January 12 2007, 8:39 pm:
i liek the first one.
i think that it may be a bit disney but it could work witha little twist.
Something like, the gil is dreaming aboutt he woman being her mother snd stuff then the next day she gos to the store and meets the woman.
or something like instead of the woman leaving it ends up the garden is goign to be turned into a paying pak where people have to pay and stuff and the woman is just using the girl to get money and stuff something like that
it would even be cool to do both hope i helped.
KaTiE!

Cux answered Friday January 12 2007, 7:48 pm:
Hey!

I think it is so awesome that you are into writing stories [even if its for a school assignment].
I agree that the first one does sound cliche and disney.. but if you put a twist into it like its actually her in the future or something...
That hasn't been done a lot.. so it would seem more creative.
The second one I don't quite understand.. and it doesn't seem interesting to me.. but if that's what you want to do.. then go right ahead.

Basically I suggest you do the first one, no matter how cliche.. because sometimes not taking the cliche route is actually cliche, because everyone thinks not to go cliche... if that makes sense...

I hope I helped!
Let me know how the story goes!
Good Luck!!!!
