HI Advicenators :)
Okay so i have to get my wisdom teeth out IN EXACTLY A MONTH my mom just told me today.(she just booked it) I am pretty much terrified right now! I dont know what to get..the "shot" or the "gas" id rly prefer the gas b.c i hate getting shots in my arm..eww it grosses me out! But can any of you tell me which is better (expirenced answers are probaley the best) I really need to know, and can you tell me how long it will hurt after, and will it hurt while in the process. Im so scared i think ill cry..Thankyou.
and you don't feel a thing during the surgery, especially since your knocked out..haha. i dont even remember getting home. i woke up and im on my couch.
i remember it was REEAALLY painful afterwards though, i could barely move my head, and there was an awful taste in my mouth for a while.
but u get awesome painkillers for the pain, and i actually ate the second day.
dont be scared though. you wont feel a thing until after its over, and then the pain doesn't really matter, because it will eventually go away.
i remember i was terrified too, more than terrified..so i completely understand.
oh the pain usually lasts around a week, and then u start feeling a little better. my suggestion for you, though, is stay home that week and just rest in bed. i didnt, and i'd come home and crash from the pain.

I have to get my fully cut out, they had just begun to grow roots and they wanted to take them out before they could cause any problems. Usually teens get put completely out because the extent of the surgery. It all depends on your dentist/surgeon too. I was completely out during the surgery and they left the needle there to keep pumping the stuff into me to keep me "out" the whole time. I didn't feel anything until a few hours after i woke up. As long as you keep taking the pain killers they give you, your fine. If your late taking them, especially in the first day or two, its hell. The swelling stayed in my face for like 4-5 days. The second day after the surgery, the swelling is the worst. Make sure you keep ice on both sides of your face, and after the ice is useless, use a warm compress. It helps get rid of the swelling faster.
Its not as bad as it sounds. I was afraid of it too. Don't worry, it'll be just fine. [ jeanine278972's advice column | Ask jeanine278972 A Question ]
stfuxdarlingg answered Tuesday January 9 2007, 6:24 pm: Okay I have never had that done either, but my mom I asked her when she got her out like a month or so ago. and she said they put this nume[srry i cnt spell the greatest] cream on your gums and then they give you the shot to nume it fully. and then so my mom she hates pain and stuff and she tells me if it hurts and she said sometimes she would feel something but it wouldn't hurt but she could hear them ripping out the tooth. and that would freak me out, lol. so the best thing i would do is like if you have an ipod bring tht and listen it to so you can like not worry so much about the teeth yakno? i hope im helpping at all..
