That being said, you might try irrigation. Find a squirt bottle and fill it with warm (not hot) water. Gently squirt the water into the ear canal with a very mild pressure. This is best done in the shower, so you don't dribble all over yourself.
Also, drug stores carry a variety of ear wax removal systems. They are available without a prescription.
You could mix a vinegar-water-peroxide solution at a 1:1:2 ratio and warm it to body temperature. Pour or very gently squirt into the ear canal. Allow to set for half a minute, and drain.
For some people, cotton swabs can increase ear wax. The act of cleaning out ear wax causes some people to produce even more to replace the missing wax.
pockets answered Friday January 5 2007, 5:54 pm: Okay so I was in this really cool store and found these things called "ear candles". It's a hollow funnel of cotton with wax hardened outside of it. The pointier part goes into your ear, and you light a candle on the opposite side of it. When you're done, all the wax from your ears is left in the funnel. It doesn't hurt, no worries. Flaggal answered Friday January 5 2007, 5:17 pm: do not use q-tips because they just push the wax deeper
MgnBoBgn answered Friday January 5 2007, 3:55 pm: Well my dad had the same thing and a couple days ago i saw this stuff on his dresser. It looked as if he has bought an "Ear Wax Removal" kit from maybe the drug section of like CVS or Walgreens. So id try checking that out...but he could have had it prescribed my his doctor. I doubt that though...im pretty sure he just bought it from a store.
Sabine answered Friday January 5 2007, 3:52 pm: Please ignore any advice which tells you to stick anything in your ear. It's dangerous! You could burst your eardrum, causing scarring and permanent hearing loss. I have been in the medical profession for many years and have done earwashes professionally. Here is what you need to do. Go to Walmart, etc., and get an over-the-counter product called Debrox. Use that according to the package instructions. That will soften up the earwax. Then you use a bulb syringe, which you can also find at Walmart. Using WARM water, gently squirt the water into your ear to wash the wax out. You can use Q-tips only on the outside of your ear canal. If this does not help your problem, bring it up with your doctor. A DOCTOR and ONLY A DOCTOR can use tools to dig ear wax out safely.
pinkfox answered Friday January 5 2007, 2:51 pm: Try q-tipping like twice or three times a day. I think you can do like something with sodium cloride, but you might want to ask your parents or doctor first, because you would be putting something in you body and it could be really dangerous. But ask you doctor. [ pinkfox's advice column | Ask pinkfox A Question ]
