You'll need to eat lots of protein! I suggest eating lots of eggs, cheese, and nuts.
Also if you ever miss the taste of meat you can get Boka stuff. (I'm not sure if that's spelled right) They make Boka burgers and ground beef, only its made from soy (completely vegiterian). It's like a veggie burger only yummier. You can buy their stuff at most grocery stores. Also Whole Foods is a great place to get vegiterian meals.

I'm a vegetarian, so if you have any questions just ask straight to my inbox and i'll help you with whatever you need. Don't cut out all meat at once, give up red meat for a week, then give up chicken and pork, and then the next week give up fish. Make sure you take a multi vitamin with iron, and make sure you eat enough dairy and protein (eggs, soy products). Also try to eat alot of beans and things like that.

sweet resolution!

big things to know:

have a dietician if you're young (under 16) or don't want to put in the work of researching how to have a balanced diet.

have multiple reasons for being a vegetarian. new year's resolutions are pretty weak honestly. you need to have back-up reasons when you fizzle out. animal cruelty, environmental impact, health, etc.

consider going further and becoming a vegan. it's not that big a step if you hack at it in little chunks at a time. when I went lacto-ovo I had veganism in the back of my mind. instead of taking a multivitamin I drank soymilk fortified for vegetarian kids.

I'm around all the time for miscellaneous advice and food preperation tips.

You have vegetarian and vegan confused, I think.

A vegan does not eat any animal products, and a vegetarian just does not eat meat. All vegetarians eat dairy and eggs (I can't vouch for all of us, but we're supposed to).

Regardless, you need to make sure you are getting enough protein.

First off, you'll need to eat larger portions than usual. You'll also need to be sure that you're getting enough protein in your diet, which is easy if you eat enough beans, nuts and seeds. Finally, you should try to switch up your meals as much as possible to make sure that you're getting all of the nutrients and such that you need (in other words;don't try living off of nothing but salad every day).
