My friend and I are watching Moulin Rouge and he said he was thinking of Satine and he was like "I wonder if she's thinking of me too," do guys actually think that?

Yes, We do. We'll never admit it, but we do. If someone catches our attention, we'll moon over her and obsess over her, do stupid things to get her attention, and we will be completely intimidated by the idea of being rejected. Don't sell the boys short. It'll take some time for them to grow up and get comfortable with the idea of romance, but they'll get there.
Real life isn't like the movies; nobody will be perfect, so just enjoy the ones that come along.

Moulin Rouge is about as close to real life as Narnia is. There is not one iota of realism in that whole movie---the whole point of the movie is just to show off beautiful cinematography and the story is just an excuse for stylish, splendid musical numbers.
No, guys are not actually like that. The boy in that movie is about as close to being a real guy as Mickey Mouse is. Us girls would like to think that guys are like that, but it's not true at all.
There are exceptions of course, as there are exceptions to everything, but don't count on it.
And in response to your additional info, yes, movies just make up that kind of stuff to sell. Guys say things like that in movies so that girls get romantic fantasies and keep buying tickets to see it. But like I said, the guys in the movies are about as close to being like a real-life, 3D person as Mickey Mouse is.

Some do. But I would mention this, guys tend to think of themselves as the love interests of the characters that they seem to think about. He most likely was refering to it that way.
