Hi,

Deciding to have sex really has nothing at all to do with age. It's all about maturity, not rushing into it, and knowing you are physically, emotionally, and mentally ready. I feel strongly that if you are old enough to have had sex-ed classes in school or are considering losing your virginity that you are mature and old enough to ask your parents about birth-control.

Most parents feel better about their kids having sex if they were responsible to seek guidance and protect themselves. Whatever you decide here be sure you are doing it for yourself and not to please or keep a guy in your life.

its nice you bring up the questions together, because its what i always use a meassuring stick when giving advice. age varies culture to culture, family to family, and person to person. what i say is this. if you arent yet ready to comfortably talk to your parents about birth control, then you arent ready to have sex. in some states, it is technically illegal for someone under the age of 18 to have sex, there is another aspect for you. ive known girls who lost it at 13, and i know 20 year olds who are still virgins. its a personal decision only you can make.

Whenever the girl is emotionally, physically and mentally ready! And shes with a person she LOVES. If you have to think about it a lot and almost PUSH yourself to do it, youre not ready. I think age has a little to do with it. Obviously youre more ready at 20 than at 13 - just my opinion. Not everyone agrees, though. I think a girl should be able to talk to her parents about birth control at ANY AGE. Information should be given to kids when theyre 12 or 13 mainly, before they get very sexually active.
