what kind of birds make the best pets? im looking at small or medium birds, no large birds like parrots or anything. ive had multiple birds in the past, so i have experiance with brids.
karenR answered Sunday December 31 2006, 6:06 pm: I have to vote for cockatiels. I have one and they are great. Parakeets are nice but the couple I have had didn't seem to live very long and were kinda mean tempered.
Both cockatiels I have had were hand fed when babies and had very nice personalities. Mine will hand around with me all day out of the cage if I let it.
Loves to go to the shower with whoever is in there!
Lots of fun. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

blwinteler answered Sunday December 31 2006, 3:36 pm: Growing up, we usually had a cockatiel in the house. They are friendly birds. They can learn to talk. We even had one that could do a perfect imitation of a cat.
I do recommend keeping the wings clipped, though, because they do like to get out. [ blwinteler's advice column | Ask blwinteler A Question ]

jediforhire answered Sunday December 31 2006, 1:06 pm: parakeets are always nice. they are fairly easy to take care of, and can be really pretty if you look for very colorfull ones. they also quiet down fairly quickly in the night, or if you put a towel or something over their cage.
i would suggest two because its always fun to watch they flit aroung together.
