Check the serial number, if you call Coach with the number, they can tell you if it's authentic, and what collection it's from. They have a few lines with different size C's, especially the Hamptons collection. Also, check the buckle, Coach should be engraved somewhere on it.
orphans answered Friday December 29 2006, 5:24 pm: Those saying that "made in China" doesn't mean it's fake is right. Both Coach and D&B make some things in China.
Adding on to what others said, there should also be a serial number on the inside of the bag. Every real one has it. It also starts with "No"...it comes before the numbers
The info on the inside of the bag should also be ON a TAG not just simply on the handbag itself. There should be a seperate tag stiched on. The tag should also match the lining.
If the lining is silk, it should have either a COACH or CC pattern on it UNLESS the outside of the bag has a CC pattern.
The color might also be off. If you look at real Coach handbags, the brown ones are a certain shade. Fake ones might be lighter.
Coach also uses YKK zippers so that should be on the zipper somewhere. And like others said, the CC pattern is off, the stiching is off, small things like that. Once you see more real Coach handbags, and are around them, it's not that hard to spot a fake. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
lilteacup answered Friday December 29 2006, 4:14 pm: The fact that it says made in china does not necessarily mean that it is fake. I bought a coach wristlet at the coach store, and it says made in China. I would say the best bet is the quality and the way the C's look. [ lilteacup's advice column | Ask lilteacup A Question ]
Sima answered Friday December 29 2006, 4:07 pm: Basically you just have to look at the quality of the bag. Real coach bags' stitching should be near perfect. Fake coach bags have sloppy stitching. Definitely the price of the bag. If you buy a 'coach' at one of those stands in NYC for like 20 bucks, it's obviously fake. The C pattern will be off. Make sure its like CC not, GG. The coach symbol should be on part of the little metal thing on the handles.
&& About the made in China thing. COACH DOES MAKE SOME BAGS IN CHINA. BUT, you'll also know if its fake if it says 'Made in Korea'.
its_melissa_DuH answered Friday December 29 2006, 2:45 pm: if it says "made in china", the C's have lines connecting them, it is poorly sewn, etc. hope i helped!
runawayxlove answered Friday December 29 2006, 2:42 pm: hey, only like real fashionistas would be able to tell if it was fake. like with me, i could pick out a fake coach purse in a second. thats only because i know what real/fake leather looks/feels like. i doubt many people would be able to know its fake tho =].
