my mom makes me walk to the library after school on tuesdays and thursdays. well its fine except i always get like shouted at by boys and men. i dont wear revealing clothes or anything but they always say things like, "nice ass" or "hey hottie' and i hate it so much. it happens whenever my parents arent with me. what can i do?
tropicalbabe33 answered Thursday December 21 2006, 2:17 pm: Firstly, take it as a compliment! At least you know that guys think you're hot!
But, I do know that you don't like it, so try and take another route. If you still have the same problem, or if there is not other route, then just smile at these guys as you walk, and carry on walking. If they say stuff to you then just ignore them, but still look happy. After all you don't want to look annoyed. Do this and they usually start shouting 'give us a smile!' and 'why the long face, babe?' (this has happened to me).
So yeah, just smile, carry on walking and look happy. [ tropicalbabe33's advice column | Ask tropicalbabe33 A Question ]

If they are near you and look like they are about to say something. Say something positive (like even a what's up) first, and keep moving. It changes the energy of the situation so they are less likely to yell.
Try to get to the library another way.
Finally, headphones. At least you won't be able to hear them. Just keep aware of your surroundings if you have them on, and you are in a place where you are often sexually harassed. In other words, don't get raped.

You could:
A) Try another route.
B) Call someone on your cell and talk to them the whole walk there. Most people won't say much if your on the phone, plus this will make it easier to ignore them.
C) Get a friend to walk to the library with you.
D) Tell your mom about the problem, maybe she'll give you a ride instead.
E) If you have a sense of humor, you could wear a Nun costume. Just kidding.
If it continues, just make sure your parents know you're concerned about it. I'm sure they wouldn't want their daughter talked to like this.
