MikeCFT answered Saturday December 16 2006, 3:38 pm: I can tell you that being skinny or muscular doesn't automatically mean healthy. They don't always go hand in hand. I know plenty of guys who are bigger and stronger than me who eat great but they just have a lifestyle that doesn't necessarily make them healthy; they'll smoke, do drugs, not do any cardio etc. I try and stress to everyone who comes to me that your no.1 goal should be to live a healthy lifestyle and STOP thinking about becoming Pamela Anderson's stunt double; that all comes later on down the road. You can have a killer body; but without it being a healthy one you're just going to see it all go to waste- if you don't have your health then you have nothing. Make the lifestyle changes before making the physical changes is my best advice. [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]
xomichelle891xo answered Saturday December 16 2006, 10:54 am: Im going through the SAME exact problem right now. Its a true fact that the girls who pig out and stay superrr skinny are blessed with a fast metabolism. Which means they can eat a lot but their body digests it very quickly. But, this isnt a get of jail free card forever :] As people get older (usually) their metabolism slows down. And these girls already have bad eating habits that will be harder to break. Also, just because someone is skinny does not mean that they are healthy! They can still get heart problems, liver problems etc. So, dont be fooled by their figure. If YOU want to get healthy and lose weight, you have to find a plan thats right for you for excercise and healthy eating. Currently (its only been 3 days) I just cut out a lot of stuff from my diet and it seems to be working.
I cut out junk food! God, thats a big deal. Its really hard to do this, but its worth it in the long run, not just to get skinny but to get HEALTHY. Your body will be so much healthier. I also am trying to cut out meat and get my protein in other ways such as eggs and soy. Its hard because my parents are steak and chicken addicts, but Ive tried to explain to them what Im trying to do and theyve been pretty understanding!
For excercise, you have to fit your schedule and likes/dislikes AND problem areas. IF YOU HAVE MOD MOVIES ON DEMAND (its like an extra channel, for me its 900.) They have a program called the Girls Next Door workout in the Sports and fitness section. Its so much fun, moderately hard and works. I use it all the time :] So, I reccomend it. But, in your shoes and shorts, why not go running? Its not really my thing so if its not yours either, dance! I always just put on some music and dance. You dont have to know moves and stuff, but once you let go and just dance like your in a club or music video you will burn calories, be working your arms, legs, abs, inner thighs, everything! So good for you.
snickerzz11 answered Friday December 15 2006, 11:38 pm: Healthy means that you eat well and exercise often. It doesn't really necessarily correlate with weight, although it can. As you said, lots of teeny tiny people eat tons and excercise never, but there are some who are aren't itty bitty but eat well and work out. It isn't really fair, is it =]
As for having lots of energy, one thing that would be great to burn off lots of energy is to just plug into your iPod and take a run. It's a great use of energy. One tip would be to run around a track instead of a street, simply because of safety reasons: if you are listening to your iPod/portable CD player (whichever you have) you might not pay tons of attention to what cars are doing. BitsandPieces answered Friday December 15 2006, 10:43 pm: You are correct that being skinny does not necessarily go along with being healthy. Everyone has a predetermined weight that genetically our bodies are programed to maintain and regulated by our metabolism. We can eat right and exercise or some of us can pig out and lay around and still be the same weight! Health is not about weight, but excessive fat around the stomach is of great concern. Instead of the scale, try measuring your waist to monitor loss and gain of fat. Running is one of the quickest ways to get into shape. Walking fast is good to start with if you are not used to exercise. It takes a while to get in shape, so be patient with yourself. Stay hydrated with plenty of water or your body will not burn calories efficiently. Never diet or take diet pills. Eat a healthy protein breakfast to jump start your metabolism. Lifting weights along with aerobic excercise will jump start your weight loss, too. Do whatever is fun and matches your personality. Some people workout with a partner or in group classes, and others enjoy working out or dancing by themselves. Don't get stuck in a rut or worry about it. Any activity that is safe and gets you moving is fine. Good luck!!! [ BitsandPieces's advice column | Ask BitsandPieces A Question ]
