here lately i have gotten into cutting myself. bad. i mean i dont go deep or anything. i just pretty much break the skin. but its gotten bad. like its all i think about. i started saturday and i was like i wont do it anymore. well i did it again last night and then 3 times today. how can i stop? ive told 2 of my friends and they tell me i need to stop, which i know. but its hard. help me? please dont tell me to get counseling, cuz i cant tell my dad and i cant go.

what you should do is think about why youre doing it ask if its worth getting caught and going to the hospital like i once did.. or should i say twice. if you dont get help now. it will turn into a big habbit. like you might stop for a few months but it will go again. like what happend to me. If you really dont want to go to counceling talk to me about it. i will help you as much as possible. tell you what they told me. or just tell your dad you been depressed lately, and u need someone to talk to, ask to see a therapist. dont tell him youre hurting yourself, just say uve been depressed and like to talk to someone other than him. tell him you would really appreciate it. then they can help you out. sounds like you are depressed though. they can give you medicine. and if u really dont want to get into a hospital dont tell them you cut yourself. just tell them youve been feeling depressed. and you sometimes dont wanna live. they will give you medicine to help you from getting those urges to cut yourself. but really think about whats bothering you, and is it really worth dying over. most likely it isnt.

same thing is/has gone on with me. its quite the addiction if you ask me. its really up to you on how far is to far and im glad that your trying to stop. okay in the hospital i learned alot of different methods to stop. but in advance it doesnt go away over night and you do just have to wait it out and eventually you will stop

1.) (common) rubber band on arm stap it when you get urges

2.) take a stopwatch. time 15 minutes and in that time go against it and dont cut when times up if you still want to then set another 15 and keep doing it.

3.) playdough.haa sounds really wierd huh? well it really does get your mind off of everything - this girl had it and when she'd get mad she would smush it up - really seemed to work

4.) take a orange[apples prob work too] put it in the freezer. when you want to cut take it out and hold it and try smushing it and stuff. it works because it distracts you

5.) the marker trick if your one of those people that needs to see blood draw on yourself with red marker[ i honestly didnt see it that effective but other people did ]

6.) draw a picture or take a poloroid and a red marker draw on it what you want to do to yourself

7.) writing letters to people that your angry with (or yourself) and never give it to them

8.) [my favorite and most effective for me] writing poetry about cutting ; it really worked and instead of doing it to myself i was writing about it and how it feels trying to stop or how it feels right after you did it.

Okay...so I used to cut too...for 3 years and it really is an addiction.
I was working so hard on stopping and it was really difficult but I have an amazing best friend who helped me every step of the way.
When I was so close to stopping my parents found out...them knowing doesn't help you stop trust me...
I know there are groups you can go to where they can't tell your parents if you don't want them to but...just...if you want to stop truly it takes a lot of work and self discipline. Blast music and sing as loudly as you can if you get uber upset. Trust me it helps.
You don't want to end up like me with over 77 scars on your arm...trust me.

i've been cutting myself for years, and eventually i just buried the hatchet... literally. i closed my eyes, and threw the razor blade into this really crowded area in my room. it has all of my books, blahblah, whatever. i threw it so i couldn't find it if i ever wanted to cut again. eventually i got cutting withdrawls which is really... weird? and it was all i would ever think about when i got angry upset. and then i'd get angry that i couldn't find the blade. but if you sit things out for long enough, it goes away. and eventually you have to focus on other things. i don't know. i'm still struggling with it. and i still do it occasionally, but it's gotten better.

well at least your attempting to fix the problem. the truth is though that you need to tell an adult so you can seek professional help. its not just gonna go away over night thats why you need to speak to someone. or if you really don't want to.. find a way to keep yourself distracted.. maybe phone a friend or even listen to music. find another outlet that is gonna keep you from cutting yourself.
