My period
Hey everyone. Well, I started my period about 5 days ago and have a few questions. #1: How long does a period last?? #2: How long should you wait to start wearing tampons? and then i have a concern. i wear pads of course, but blood has gotten into EVERY pair of underwear i wear. what can i do about this? i can't go out buy a whole supply of underwear every week. HELP!!!!! thanks!

I had this same problem when I first got my period. Your period should last 5-8 days, give or take a day. You should wait to start using tampons after you've had your period a few times. I'd say at least 5-7 times. Or at least until your period gets regular. With the underwear, I think a lot of people had this problem. It sucks. Just wear your old underwear that you hardly ever wear. It sounds like you are not putting your pad in the right place. Just put it a little farther back, or up a little more, whicheever is needed. If that doesn't work, then try a longer pad. well your period usually lasts anywhere from 5-8 days and when i first got it i started wearing tampons like right away because i was very athletic. As for your underwear save about 7-10 underwear that you just wear when you are on your period that way you still have a clean supply when you aren't on your period. Hope I helped =)

i just got my period over the summer, so i'm kinda new to it too.
a period lasts between 3-8 days, it all depends on you. i started wearing tampons the second time i got my period, and believe me, i've learned to love them.
i first started to wear pads, but there uncomfotorable and always leave me worrying about stains. you should practice wearing tampons by using a mirror, you should lay down on your bed, thats most comftorable. you should open up your vagina buy opening the skin flaps so you can see the whole, then gently relax your muscles and slowly slide the tampon in. if you need more help on how to insert it, you should buy a tampax box of tampons and it has a little sheet of paper in the box that has more help. if you will continue to use pads, i suggest you wear two pads at once, for maximum protection, or just get heavy duty pads. you should start practicing to use tampons, and i got the hang of it in about a half an hour. remember though, you should keep tampons in for only 6-8 hours, other wise it clogs your vagina and you can get TSS. with tampons, you don't need to worry about staining anything, and when you put them in right, you won't be able to feel a thing. Also, you need to push the tampon in really deep, otherwise it will hurt. hopefully i helped

a normal period usualy lasts b/t 3-6 days. if they continue to last longer consult a DR
i started using tampons immediately i hated those stupid pads- do not forget to take them out when inserting another tampon. also- do not keep them in too long as it can cause TSS (toxic shock syndrome) sometimes depending on your flow it may be necessary to wear a panty liner with a tampon to prevent stains.
If your periods are heavy- meaning if you are wearing a pad and with in 4 hours it seeps thru then you need to see a DR
Sweety if you started your period 5 days ago and are still on your period and it is that heavy i would go to see a DR. If your periods are painful and inconsistant then you may want to be put on birth control. It seriously helps your flow and cramps.
BUY cheap underwear and only use thos undies for your girlie days!!

Periods usually last 5-7 days. As for the tampons, you should start using them whenever you are comfortable. I wouldn't suggest using them right away considering you just started your period and you should get used to it first. Make sure the pads you wear are the ones with the wings. If you use the ones with the wings and you still leak then I suggest getting the night time pads.

Periods can last from 5-7 days or more. You should wait until your comfortable enough to wear tampons. As so for leaking, I suggest you buy "night time long pads" or w/e they`re called, they`re thin and very long so there is no change of really leaking. If you still leak just put stain stick on your underwear and wash them when you can. Hope this helps. ♥
