ACNE

Question Posted Sunday November 19 2006, 3:52 pm

I dont know what to do anymore. My face is bothering me SO much. I can't have proactive anymore. I've tried every product. I have had the same acne for months.. I dunno.. for a year or longer. It's just not going away. What can I do?

It's killing my confidence. It's like I'm the only one with acne at school. I can tell who's wearing coverup since I had to wear makeup for years for my acne. I can't keep my head up because people just stare. And i dont know.

It looks like i have a lot of acne.. but it seems like it's all scars and cysts.

I dont know what products to try because most just make my skin WORSE.

If I go to a derm.. could they really help me?
I've already tried the medicated creams.
My face just looks rough and red.. just gross.

I always wanted smooth skin but I guess I won't get it.

Don't tell me to wash my face because I already do. I don't over wash my face or anything. Just once or twice a day. I'm not rough with my skin either.

Somebody suggested Birth Control but I heard that can make acne lots worse. Is that true?

yes birth control can make acne worse but it depends on the kind... and i used to have lots of bad acne like you and i tohught it could never get it away but this is what i use, i use those noxema pads and use it on my face right before i hop in the shower, so all my makeup comes off.. and its also a good product to get acne away and then i use st. ives apricot scrub and i have been useing these two and my acne has gotten ALOT better, believe me. and when i used to get big pimples, i would use toothpaste and that worked really good for me.. but i just guess it all depends on your skin cause i have oily skin. any other qiuestions, just ask!

you should go to the dermotologist. mine healed with proactiv. but one of my friends had the same problem as you. there are amny people who tried every thing they can and didnt work. She went to the derm,. and they gave her cream and it worked. So i think you should go to the derm. and im sure theres something that could help you.

& chocolate does worsen acne. it says it doesnt on some sites. but it does because im a victim of it. If i eat chocolate, bam. im a pizza.

dont pop em. try not to. i sometimes do cause it gets annoying but try not to.

and dont wash your face TOO much. it will worsen it

what i do is i bring "clean and Clear oil blotting paper" to school and take extra oil off when im in the bathroom or whatever. you can take excess oil and dirt off and it will be less likely for acne!

hope i helped!!!

Well, I'm with you on this matter. And I'm still with you on this matter but it's gotten a WHOLE lot BETTER.

Okay, first things first--use Cetaphil for your cleanser. It's a gentle cleanser that helps smooth your skin. On the first couple of days, use a cotton pad or a soft face cloth and gently rub your face to get all the dead skin off. When you're skin becomes a little bit softer, stop until it gets all patchy with dead skin, rub it gently with a face cloth or something again. Wash your face twice a day and don't wash it with too hot water, warm, or cold water. Use luke water that's a little bit more on the cold side.

Green tea is uberly awesome. I'm not kidding. Okay, so after you wash your face at night, mix some green tea (organic if you can) and cool it down to room temp or close to room temp. Splash green tea over your face until all of it is gone--you don't need that much. Pat your face dry. Do this only at night!!! Drink green tea -- one cup a day will do. Eat apples EVERYDAY. It's awesome and delicious too.

Please don't wear make up..It's just gonna make your acne way worse than you want it to be. Get your hair out of your face (and if you're like me and don't like to put your hair up in a ponytail at school, just do it at night). Make sure no hair is touching your face. Change your pillow cover every night and try to sleep not on your face.

As to what you can apply to your face-- lotion and sunblock. Use DML/Neutrogena/Cetaphil lotions and MAKE SURE they are oil free and won't clog pores. Always apply sunblock if you're gonna go outside b/c the sun and the heat can cause acne and for that, use Aveeno -- and once again, make sure it won't clog pores.

Don't go to stores and buy acne products or something like that. Most of the time, it will jsut suck all the moisture out of your face and leave it dry and the acne..well it's not gonna gt better. If you do go to the derma--know this: people who have been going to the derma have used every product they said these people should use. Now they're 40something and they can't stop using it because as soon as they stop, the acne will come rushin back. See, these products only helps temporarily and on the long run, it will just damage your skin. I use to go to the derma but all the creams they perscribed SUCKED. and it didn't help at all.

Try and go to sleep as early as possible everyday and don't eat junk foods such as fast food, soda, candy, choco, butter, oily stuff and such. Eat a lot of veggies and fruits =]

So good luck and don't forget what I just typed above. Continue for a month consistently and you should see some results really soon.

The only thing you should wear

i have two friends who went one birth controll for acne (one is a guy, ones a girl) and it has worked well for both of them. but DEFINITLY go to a dermatologist before u go on hormones, because there could be another way that only a professional can help you with.
i hope that was helpful!

Your skin sounds so much like mine. I've had acne since fifth grade and it's just gotten worse since. I had cystic acne until I was put on a VERY strong acne drug called Accutane that literally, damages your oil glands. I also get cortisone shots in my cystic acne. It shrinks the cyst within 2-3 days.

Accutane:

Yes, it is true birth controll can make your acne worst. And yeah i think you should go to a dermatoligist, if nothing else works then thats the onl thing you can do. With my skin i only break out during "the time of the month" and i just use regular soap because everything else i use, like you, just make my skin worst. So yeah i would consult a dermatoligist and whatever you do dont go to birthcontrol with just that proplem ne thing else like period proplems or sex then yes but not just for acne. im sorry if i didint answer your question right.

im sorry =(. defffinitely go to a dermatologist though. they can prescribe you different washes and creams that will do a lot more than anything OTC can. And maybe, if it comes down to it, you could go on accutane. It's basically an acne wonder drug. Hope this helps.
