I think that would be good. A 12 year old needs a tote for going on field trips and sleepovers and all.

I think the purse is adorable. Personally, I love it. I still, to this day, love big purses, and when I was 12 I was carrying around purses bigger than that! I think it would be an absolutely lovely christmas present.

Actually, it just depends.

Reguardless of what the first person who answered this question said - it can be used as either a purse or a bookbag.

It's your cousins personal preference.

A "tote bag" has no specific purpose, other than to "tote" things around.

I have one, it's slightly smaller than I would like it to be. Of course, it's not Abercromie - because I don't personally like that brand, or most other brands like it.

I use it for books - but at semester, when the amount of books I have decreases, it'll be more like a purse.

My cousin has one, she uses it for a purse. She carries car keys, her camera, her billfold, and all those other essentials inside of it. I'm pretty sure hers is from American Eagle.

Granted, we're both sixteen.

But I know plenty of kids around twelve who use them.

Try talking to your cousin about purses. I was considering buying one of my friends a purse - and I started off the subject with my disgust of those trashy sequin things. It eventually got to the point where she told me exactly what she liked.

just get the kind where she can use to carry books and stuff. you don't really do anything with a purse.

personally i don't think that those bags make good purse. most girls use them as bookbags for school. and i especially don't think that it would make a good purse for a 12 year old because the bags are kind've big, and if she's 12 then it will be really big for her.

I don't think it's too big. But when I was 12, I didn't like big purses (but I do now), so maybe you should talk to her and somehow fit purses into a conversation to see if she likes big purses. Hope I helped.

Well, this isn't a purse at all.
This is a tote bag, and i use one in school to carry books around and i've seen those ones as well.
