Question Posted Saturday November 18 2006, 9:41 am
I'm pregnant and due in just one month, and we still haven't agreed on a middle name for the baby. My husband and half our friends and family like Emma Lynn. I and the other half like Emma Linnora.
Linnora is a family name with a long story that has to do with a fort being attacked by native Americans and my ancestors, Linnora and her brother, being the only ones to survive.
Also, our last name is French , like Leblanc or Lecarte.
Please suggest some names OR some ideas for a way to reach a compromise and break this 6 month long deadlock.
congrates on the baby i wish you a very happy life with your daughter
in my opioion i like emma linnora
i think it is really special to have a family name and tradition dont let it pass! i wish i had a family name like that. [ grayrainbow's advice column | Ask grayrainbow A Question ]
BitsandPieces answered Monday November 20 2006, 11:57 am: The child will not care as much about the historical significance of the name as much as how pretty it sounds. I would pick whichever you feel will put a smile on her face when you say it. She has to live with this name. Could you name her, Emma Linn? Sounds like Lynn, but the significance of being named after Linnora is still there. How about Linnora Lynn? Congratulations on the pregancy. rick505 answered Sunday November 19 2006, 6:30 am: this wont be a popular answer but i say give her both names. There is no law saying that someone has to have just three names. i know several people with no middle name at all and i myself was born with four.
Emma lynn linnora leblanc. say it out loud. i think its cool. plus when she is older and you are yelling for her across the house EMMA LYNN LINNORA will surely get her attention. [ rick505's advice column | Ask rick505 A Question ]
Nallie answered Sunday November 19 2006, 12:49 am: Why not spell the middle name Lynnora as a compromise? Nice story about the ancestor, It would be good to carry that name on in some manner. [ Nallie's advice column | Ask Nallie A Question ]

karenR answered Saturday November 18 2006, 11:57 am: Why not spell her middle name Linn. It will be the name you like and yet still obviously be named after your family name. Emma Linn. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
