Question Posted Wednesday November 8 2006, 3:28 am
My ipod has been frozen all day now. I've had it since Christmas '04 and this has never happened to it before. It's stuck on a song, and I've tried EVERYTHING. I've tried resetting it, tried all thr buttons, tried plugging it in to my computer, tried charging. Yet its still stuck. Has this ever happened to anyone else before? What can I do?
BTW, it's an iPod mini if that helps. And I've never had problems with it prior to this.

LM answered Wednesday November 8 2006, 5:19 pm: hmm.. when you reset it, did you just hold down menu and the center select button? Or did you connect it to the computer and use iPod updater/iTunes (you can reset from both programs now). That might be your problem right there.
If that doesn't help, try letting the battery die completely. This will take awhile (I'm assuning it doesn't play at all?) If it does play, just leave it playing- either play through all the songs alphabetically or on shuffle and frequently skip around; this kills the battery. And leave the backlight on constantly. If it's NOT playing, don't worry. I've heard keeping the HOLD button on for a long time kills the battery faster, so let it sit somewhere undisturbed for about.. a week? Then try resetting it and charge it up completely.
Make sure you remember what song it was.. the file may have become corrupted or something. I'd suggest re-importing all your music when you get your iPod working again
If you still need help, my screename is the same as my advicenators name. I have a mini as well and I'll try my best to help :) [ LM's advice column | Ask LM A Question ]
TEENAGExHEARTS answered Wednesday November 8 2006, 4:50 pm: this happens to all of my friends and their ipod mini's. that is why i didn't get an ipod. but anyway for your problem all you can really do is wait for the battery to die and they turn it off and charge it.
Teza answered Wednesday November 8 2006, 4:21 pm: It happened to my iPod a few times. Don't charge it and don't keep pressing buttons. Let it go dead and then it will unfreeze. After, re-charge it and it'll be fine. Next time just be patient when you're clicking on stuff and songs. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
