Usually they dont until you are 16.
I think you're better off waiting until you're nearly 16 then go out looking. I know some places hire 15 year olds but you need to get permission from the school.. [ queenhearts's advice column | Ask queenhearts A Question ]

MelLeDisko answered Tuesday October 24 2006, 6:23 pm: Well, I'm not sure where you live, but here in Pennsylvania as I'm pretty sure of most places, won't hire a person until they're 16, and have a work permit and everything.
There ARE some jobs out there for 14 year olds, you just really have to know where to look and everything, and have someone put in a good word for you.
My friend just works at her mom's place and shreds paper for a couple hours. Not exciting, I know, but her mother pays her alot of money then. So maybe you could work at a friends parents work just doing some litlte jobs here and there, and maybe even at your parents work.
I also know someone who handed out fliers and stuff and stood outside the resturant at the mall and just handed out the samples to people, but I don't think she really made any of the food or anything. But I think she knew someone who worked there, so, like I said, it's really hard to get a job at 14 unless you know somebody who might be able to get you something.
