So this guy that I don't know friended me on facebook, but I have quite a few mutual friends with him. I'm assuming cuz he thought I was hot perhaps? haha anyways, I want to ask him who he is, but through a message, so how could I do that in a non dorky way, instead of just saying "Who are you?"

Ask him what school he goes to or something. Dont worry. You wont sound dorky. Just have a normal conversation with him, just add a few questions about him. Get to know him.

You could always be like, do I know you? You could also say something like, I can't really recognize you from your picture - how do I know you? I hope this helps :)

Well you should ask him who he is.
Put it like this maybe...
Hi Name, I see you have added me as a friend. I'm
sorry but I don't recognize your name. I see we have a lot of the same friends...Have we met?
Gives him the opportunity to start a conversation.
But doesn't sound rude or dorky. :)

Just casually message him and be like,"Hey, I noticed you friended me on facebook and you know a few of my friends. Have we met before? :)" And if he says no, then casually just responded. "Oh, who are you?" And then he'll just answer back with his name. Trust me, you won't sound dorky.
