Ever since this summer I've been more concious of what I eat. I am a very active 14/f. I have lacrosse practice for 1 and 1/2 hours three days a week, I have marching band everyday for 2 hours and I run between 3 and 5 miles almost every day. I eat about 2,500 calories every day(honest). I try to balance the amount of carbs, fat, and protien I get based on the recomended servings. My parents bug me a lot about me not eating enough. I have lost my period for a few months now, but the doctor says its not a big deal, it will come back. I have a BMI of 20, so I'm not underweight. But my parents make me feel like I'm anorexic or something, I overhear them talking about me a lot. Do I have a problem?
Erronius answered Monday September 25 2006, 6:51 am: When I was in the Military, I would eat all thre meals they provide each day, as well as 1-2 additional meals. I was hella active, and burned off everything I ate. When I left the military, I kept eating the same amount for several months until I gained 40lbs, and had to cut down how much I ate drastically.
Of course, parents worry, thats their job. Plus, many parents push food on their children, in a kind of "If you are eating, you are happy" mind set. [ Erronius's advice column | Ask Erronius A Question ]

I mean I know exactly how you feel, last summer I thought I was so fat and I tried losing weight, doing everything, I possibly can, I didn`t eat anything for like 3 days and that`s how I lost it, but trust me that`s not the way to go. It`s okay for you to worry about your weight as long as it`s in a healthy way. [ ADViCELOLA's advice column | Ask ADViCELOLA A Question ]
HELP4YOU answered Sunday September 24 2006, 7:08 pm: Hello,
Don't worry. You don't have an eating disorder. I am going through the same problem. Being as active as you makes you lose a lot of weight. I know you are trying to be careful about your weight, but that also means getting it up if it's a little low.
I think you'll be okay, but maybe you should have some munchies in between sports, doing homework, or right before bed. And snacks doesn't have to be unhealthy. Have a banana, yogurt, crackers, granola bars, ANYTHING small that won't make you gain weight but will make sure your sugar level is okay. If you don't have enough sugar and you're as active as you are, there are bad consequences like passing out. So make sure you eat in between. Everyone is supposed to have about 6 meals a day. It may seem like a lot, but those 6 meals are lobster-and-steak dinners.
Keep up your exercise, it's extremely important. And just so you know, muscle weighs a lot more than fat. So if you see yourself gaining a few pounds, DON'T FRET. It's most likely you building up your muscle. If you want to show your parents you aren't anorexic but you want to be careful, show them that you're eating those little snacks in between and they'll feel a bit better.
AmazingAdvice answered Sunday September 24 2006, 6:49 pm: No. You do not have an eating disorder if you are intaking the right amount of calories everyday. You do get alot of excersize, which is good, but maybe you should eat a few more things during the day to help you with your excersize. You lost your period due to either your excersizing, which is alot which can break down things inside your body, or you lost it becuase you wern't ready. If you lose it for more then 6 months you need to conisder going back to the docters and checking wtih them again, or even a germacoligist. Make sure your bmi doesnt get to underwait, your intakking the right amount of calories every day and your ecxersizing daylie and you should be good. oh and about your parents, im sure there just being overprotective. I hope my advice helped!
