an unwanted pet

Question Posted Sunday September 17 2006, 11:25 pm

My family and i had 2 dogs. my mom found a cute puppy and asked us [my sister and me] if we wanted one. i said no because the 2 dogs that we already have get no attention and are always chained up outside [my mom makes them, so don't point fingers at me] and i said that the puppy would end up exactly like the other dogs: with no attention and always chained up. we got another dog anyways. and what i said is what happened. what do i do? i feel bad but i never wanted that puppy because i knew what would happen

You sound like you are the mature one of your family. I have to agree with you, it's not fair for dogs to be chained all of the time. Some people just don't think....A puppy is cute and cuddly and fun to play with, but once one discovers the work involved the 'fun' wears off and they are tossed aside. It's unfortunate that we are such a 'throw-away' society. I am guessing that you are going to have to take full responsibility for the three dogs (since no one else will) unless you can get your sister involved. Since they have to be chained, at least make sure they have a nice dog house and plenty of food and water all the time. Take the dogs for walks every day, play with them and give them as much attention as you can. Inisist that they receieve proper vet care, and perhaps obedience classes so they can socialize better. If you can't do all this, perhaps you could try to convince your Mom to find the poor dogs a new home.

Well if you have dogs already that arn't getting treated like they should treat them nicley and give them attention and you may decide you want another dog

Since they can't be inside I'm assuming, just give them attention outside. Bring out treats for them and toys and run around with them and play catch and just pet them alot and scratch them behind the ears, wherever they loved to be scratched. Maybe even take them for daily jogs [ fun and exercise! ]. Even though you can't ALWAYS be outside with them, I'm sure they'll appreciate the love they get from you every now and then every day. Or, you could always suggest selling the puppies and giving them new homes where they won't be chained up. I don't understand why your parents would keep dogs if they're just going to give them no attention and keep them chained up. I hope I helped.

well i guess you can try to spil the puppy a little bit like tickle it or scratch its belly every once in a while and give it extra treats you can also give it walks maybe you can do that for all the dolls every once in a while or you could either just sell or give away the puppy
