I guess that it is true after all that we don’t appreciate something unless it is missing from our lives, and what makes things even more critical is that we miss it more when we see others enjoying it without any effort as if things come to them without them having to work for it.
The irony in this whole thing is that those people might be looking at us and saying to themselves that we are luckier than them because of things that we have and they don’t.

Everyone has issues, just everyone thinks that they're the only people with problems. Then you come to a site like this and you see that maybe you're not the only one with an imperfect life.
But yeah, the saying just means that people compare their own lives to other people's and then they realize that their life isn't so bad. [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]

orphans answered Sunday September 10 2006, 1:40 pm: basicaly it means that the other person always has it better: for example if you and your friend went to get icec ream, and she got more sprinkles, and you felt disapointed than thatwould be an example. originally, the grass is always greener means that the nieghbors grass is better (see, they are unhappy with their own) [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
