Can a Goth work with horses/work as an actress??? PLEASE HEL

Question Posted Tuesday August 29 2006, 8:45 pm

Hi , can anyone help!!!!!! I am 17 years old. I have a problem in that I would like to become a Goth/Gothic/ but I am also thinking about going to college /wanting a career working with horses. But how is this possible? Can Goths get jobs working with horses? Can i work with horses and still be a Goth realistically?? PLEASE HELP!!!! it's just I desperately want to do both! It's just I have NEVER EVER in my life SEEN ANYONE who is a Goth/gothic who works in a stable yard. Also the hours working with horses are long....so how can i be a Goth in my spare time ..if I don't have much spare time? But I really want to do both...WHAT CAN I DO?? help!!!! Also I was also considering a career as an actress. I would quite like to go to college do study 'performing Arts' but again:.....can I be a Goth AND an actress...because I don't think I have EVER seen a Goth actress.Do you know of any famous actors/actresses who are also Goths/gothic/follow the gothic lifestyle??? What can I do?? I haven't decided whether I want to work with horses or go into performing Arts yet.....but whatever I do I would also like to become a Goth/gothic. Can I still become a Goth if i get a job as an actress or with horses??? Please can anyone out there offer me any advice???? PLEASE HELP!!!!! Do you know of any people who either work with horses or who are actors/actresses but who are also goths?? HELP? CAN I BECOME A GOTH AND WORK WITH HORSES/AS AN ACTRESS??? please be realistic.
I am from England

Okay firstly, no offense, you don't just decide to "go goth" it's a lifestyle, and a thought of mind. Most people see goths as dark haired, dark and lots of make up, and dark wardrobe. Trust me, it's just a state of mind, a way of thinking. You can be gothic, and not look like it. Which would help in your career. And yes, there are lots of movies and such looking for gothic roles, and just because you are gothic, doesn't mean you would be gothic in said role. They change you. See, i am punk, but if i were to be cast, i could be changed to a "prep" wearing mini pink skirts and white polos, which i would never be caught in. As for the horses, it depends on what you are doing with them. Are you planning working with kids? because i would not suggest the goth role if so, most parents do not enjoy that. Are you just working stable hand? Because you'll probably have a uniform, and they can't stop any look you choose, as long as you follow their uniform. So yes, you probably could. But, you're seventeen, and you're choosing to just go goth? is there a reason? i was reading this, and if you just choose to go goth, you'd've probably done it by now. You shouldn't have to think so hard about something like that, you probably would have done it by now if you really wanted to. I'd say, don't go with it at all, because no one would take you seriously and if you don't want to go into horses, they may not enjoy it. It also depends on your additude. And no, dear sorry, you cannot just be a goth in your "spare" time. That's stupid and insulting to true goths. I would say, since you are seventeen, you are still finding yourself, but you've also been the way you are for a few years. Usually you find yourself by fourteen, or maybe that's just my experience. Eitherway, i would just stay true to yourself, and your future will decide itself. Hope that helps.

You will be hard pressed to find a job anywhere, as a Goth. Even the equine world will think twice before hiring a Goth. It's a matter of presenting a good image.

You can't have everything in life and sometimes you have to sacrifice one dream in order to pursue another. I'd give up the Goth thing. That desire will pass.

Firstly, College and Working with horses arn't particularly closely related are they?! Are you sure this is a wise choice of what to do in the future?

Secondly, I dont think there are any laws against being a Goth and working with horses... I may however be wrong, this not being my area of expertise!

Just because you have never seen a Goth working with Horses doesnt mean they do not exist, Do you see Oxygen? No but it still exists (OR SO I LIKE TO THINK!)

In your wanting to be a Gothic Actress you could perhaps be a suicide girl ;) they are afterall the cream of Gothic Actresses

Who cares if you work with horses or your an actress. Being a goth is cool but you still have to live your life with your own interests as well.

What you wear doesn't make YOU, YOU.
Of course it can reflect on that.
But you are being stereotypical.

I like to get all dressed up, and I even have a couple A/E T-shirts, but I have multicolored hair (purple, black, blonde)
My friend dresses the "gothic" style and coincidentaly, is into horses and is a stable-hand & on the soccer team.

don't let an outfit be all about you.
You have many angles and dimentions to who you are, what you wear is just one of them

Jesus Christ.

Quit being so stereotypical

Comon now, how bout YOU be realistic.

If you want to be a goth, then just do it.

I dont know how people will react to you looking a certain way one day, and then completely different another day, I'm not gonna lie to you..
you WILL get teased and ridiculed lots.

Chances are that you will get tired of it and you will change your look again in 2 weeks to fit in some other idiotic clique.

Goths tend to be passive, accepting, laid back and passive.

•Many Goths have a fascination with death.

“There's no Grand Gothic Judge to decree what is truly Goth and what is not, although there are plenty of people who claim to be it. It's an ambiguous label with many people using it that don't understand what it means. The people who do understand it often have many different definitions.”

Drug use is found in the gothic scene, just as in any teenage group. However, it is not required. Most commonly used drugs within the gothic scene are alcohol, LSD, and tobacco.

For girls, some common Goth looks are:
Fishnet tights
•Pointy toed shoes, combat boots, high heels, heeled boots…
•Piercing or tattoos
•Cleavage-enhancing corset top with long flowing skirts
•Crushed velvet dress with heels or boots
•Bondage Gear, spikes or studs
•Ratted up Hair, red or black lipstick, black makeup for the eyes, pointed angles
•Lingerie that shows
•Dracula Influence/ Death Angel Influence

So, just ask yourself, could you dress in that style & tend to horses? lol. Just be yourself!! I'm not saying don"t be goth... but you shouldn't let an outfit define who you are.
Good Luck.
