i'm a freshmen and i already started high school a week ago. its real easy to get around. but if you get lost, its okay because a lot of others will get lost too, so don't worry. just be cool and don't try to impress anyone or be better than anyone else. upperclassmen are nice at my school. so you probably won't need to worry about that either. if you have a lot of friends, chances are you'll have at least 1 or 2 friends in each class. sorry if i don't have anything else to say.

i hoped i helped. :)

Darling,
2 years experience!!!
First of all don't let the upperclassmen push you around becuase they just like the power. The more you stand up to them, the more mature you seem. I really messed up my ninth grade year becuase i was extremely worried about my social status with the populars and boys. My grades were really bad and believe me i regret it. I only stayed friends with one of my friends from 9th, the rest i spent time crying over becuase girls are catty. The best of them become b****** when they are jealous. So worry about your grades and get all the help you can get. Besides that, dont get in a serious relationship. Your in 9th grade, for now boys are just for fun. Have fun and be social. Enjoy 9th grade you only get one memory of it!!
Sincerly,
Vennessa.

first off i'm sorry that i can't give you a first-hand experience, because i'm 14 also but where i live 9th grade is still in middle school. but i do know plenty of people starting highschool and people who are already in highschool.

my sister (who is now going into 12th grade) is always telling me how your high school years are your best years of your life. Basically she said that once you reach high school, age doesn't matter. like seniors will be friends with juniors and so on. so it won't matter that your locker is with shophmores. that is actually a good thing! now you'll make even more friends! the shophmores can also help you since they've already been freshmans. so just be friendly and don't let people smell your fear! and remember most likely everyone else will be just as scared as you are.

plus since you play field hockey, you can always count on the team to be there for you!

ah yes, i remember starting freshman year at 14. do you have friends in school with you? if so, just hang out with them and try and enjoy meeting new people. i had a handful of friends and i took my education seriously. i made friends easy because i wasn't 'choosy' about people who tried talking to me. i know it's hard enough to start a conversation with a complete stranger. making friends can be scary in high school so i just went with the flow. i was nice to people, they were nice to me. some weren't so nice, i just stayed clear of them. i noticed by the time i graduated i wasn't either super popular or a nobody. i had a good reputation, no enemies and got good grades.
try to keep things balanced: time for study, time for play, time for friends, and time for your self. you'll be well rounded and attract the same kind of people.
congratulations on starting high school, enjoy the most memorable years of your life!

Cux answered Tuesday August 29 2006, 1:39 pm:
Hey!
I am in the same situation as you... I'm going into HS for the first year!
When it comes to "Freshmen Friday" there is NO such thing... my brother and sister are both in HS (senior and junior) and have told me so...

If your school allows you to carry your backpack around to your classes.. then do so.. instead of going to your locker after each class and being in the midst of sophomores...

Always study.. every night.. nothing is moer important than getting good grades...
If you have a big test coming up in a week- don't wait until the last minute to study, because cramming never works.. instead.. take about 10-15 minutes each night before the test to study the material.. and make sure you remember it..

When doing homework.. don't do it all in one sit-down.. take aobut 10 minute breaks every 30 minutes or so.. If you work non-stop.. you'll only stress yourself out...

Try as hard as you can (although there isn't a freshmen friday) to stay out of the way of upperclassmen.. they won't be the friendliest to run into...

Hope I helped!
