For the School supplies i would go to a staples. They have almost everything you need really cheap. If you have a cvs around you then go there also they have a bunch of school supplies on sell right now. Only get like a pack of pens and pencils, 2 packs of paper, and couple of folders and whatever else you may need.

For backpacks You can check at walmart or anywhere that sells school supplies. Just get a cheap one. Honestly the people below that said get a cartoon backpack or you dont need you because they make you look stupid. Ignore them. Im a senior and i still have to carry one around.

For the clothing i really dont know what to do. but maybe call up some relatives and explain to them that your dad wont give you enough money for you to get some new outfits.

And the hair cut im sure someone in your neighboorhood knows how to cut hair.

You really need to explain to your dad that $20 wont buy you hardly any of what you will need. Hes supposed to support you for school. You say money is tight but if he only has $20 to give you then theres really problems.

hope this helps
kim:)

dollar store is the answer for skewl supplies. goodwill n other thrift stores is the answer fer clothes. you dont even have to get that much clothes. just alternate outfits using the dif articles of clothing. fer yer hair, i cut my own hair but some ppl arent as experienced as i am, so maybe you can find a friend or neighbor or something who can cut yer hair fer really cheap or free.

I know it can be a big bummer when it seems like everyone around you is buying and getting all sorts of new stuff for school--but the trick is to utilize what you do have and then buy. So for a backpack--you don't just have to use an acutual backpack or anything fancy. Right now, oversized bags/purses are really in as bookbags. You may already have one on hand. Also, sometimes small carry on bags (like for lugguge) can double up as a book carrying bag. It's nothing to be embarassed or ashamed about. Vintage/creative is very in right now. If you do HAVE to buy a backpack, a lot of second hand stores are going to be carrying them right now because of going back to school. So check there. They may even give it to you free if you explain your situation. You may also want to go and get a really kiddish backpack like a Bob the Builder one or some type of cartoon. Those are really in right now. As far as paper and other small school supplies, try getting like one of those five section spirals that lets you tear out the paper and it even has dividers and pockets in it. Right now, a lot of school stuff is on sale for buy one get one free or like 50 cents. You have to shop around. Don't go for flashy, go for practical. You can get plain colored folders for 10 cents each at like walgreens. If you want it to be designed cut out things from magazines you like and put a clear tape over it (like lamenating)--this too is in right now. As far as pens--look around your house, you'll find TONS. And, if you need more, buy in bulk in stead of one real fancy one. As far as clothes, have a garage sale or sell them to a resale shop local to your area. You can use the extra money to buy stuff. Go to places like a resale/thrift shop such as Goodwill, Christian Ministries, Value Village. These places have things for as cheap as 1 buck and your clothes will be new to everyone because you just moved. As far as your hair cut, you can get anyone to give you a trim. Your mom could do it for you. And then style it differently for a fresh look. Don't stress yourself about money--be excited for school. Everything will work out. :)

Well, for book bags, like the person said below, Sears has them pretty cheap. And maybe you can try asking a friend or maybe a neighbor if they got a new one, and have their old one to give to you. But try and look in the paper for garage sales and try going to thrift stores if there's any near by like a Good Will or something. They sell some good shoes and clothes. And they might even sell back packs too. And whenever you go to Staples or Office Max, just by a group of pencils instead of buying like, one for 6 bucks. And also, Office Max might have Back To School sales too so you could get stuff for even cheaper. I know my mom buys like, a thousand folders because they're only like, 30 cents or 90 cents. And same with clothes and stuff too. There are so many Bakc To School sales going around in the stores it's unbelievable. And try seeing if you can find any coupons in any magazines or newspapers. Oh and also, if you didn't move too far away from where you used to live, ask your friends to maybe mail some clothes that they don't want anymore or maybe go around the neighborhood asking people if they have old stuff. I hope I helped. <3

at sears we have bookbags for as low as $12 which is about the best deal around and some of them come with supplies in them for $12. As for the haircut i would find a friend to just trim it. You really can't get a hair cut and otherstuff for that kind of money. Also for clothes i would check out your local newspaper. I often see people selling large bags of juniors clothes barely warn for $20.

There really isn't advice anyone can give you because $20 can't really get you anywhere. What i would recommend is go to a relative and ask if you can do like yardwork for them for money or whatnot. And a bookbag isnt that big of a deal. No one at my school has really used one since 4th grade so its not a big deal. usually only the really dorky kids have them in my school. So you are fine.

Also check out ebay. You may able to get a large box of clothes cheap. you just have to watchout because shipping is expensive

also check out the dollar store. They have big packs of pens paper and what not for a dollar. Maybe have a garage sale at your house to get rid of your old stuff?

this year i got my school stuff for like $15 actually. you dont need most of the stuff on there. like get one pack of paper then later in the year get more (see what i mean?) and use anything that still works from last year. eventually school stuff will go on sale so you can get good prices. you could to go platos closet... bring in some of your old clothes, get some cash, and get some new ones there cheap. if you need anything else, lemme know, i'm used to being on a budget since i pay for everything. <3
