How many calories should I burn?

Question Posted Saturday August 19 2006, 11:38 pm

I play Dance Dance Revolution and I was wondering about how many calories I should try to burn daily? I am 14 and a Male, 5 feet, 4 inches, and I weigh 145 pounds. So far I have managed to burn 500 calories well playing on workout mode (I own MAX version) I was also wondering how accurate the calorie counter is?

Dude...do you want the truth?

Well for one just because it says 500 calories doesn't mean you have burned 500...it just means that you have done 500 calories worth of work and everyone's body metabolizes the cals different so its not universal. Is dance a good workout? Yes, but you have to dance non stop for a very long time in order to burn a true 500 calories.

You're 145 pounds so I don't understand why you're trying to burn 500 calories at a clip, if I were you I would try and maybe lift weights and build your body mass up before you get into the whole cardio thing..unless you want to be a ballet dancer or something like that. If you really had to burn calories I don't think you should do more than 200-250 at a clip.

i have the same game and i play it daily. i usually do 100 calories a day because i get really tired. i do about 10 songs on standard and see how many calories that is. i wouldnt burn a full pound a day because that would take a LONG time and you would be soooo tired. as for the calorie counter, im not sure how accurate it is but it should be pretty accurate because you put in your weight. the more you weigh, the more you burn.

hope i helped.

the calorie counter is fairly accurate because you have to put in your weight. i can normally burn about 10 calories in a minute because i play on like the highest level. as for the amount of calories you should burn daily, 3500 calories = 1 pound. i'm not saying that you should burn 3500 calories a day because that would be dangerous, but that should give you an idea based on whatever goal you have set. i just wouldn't go over 500 a day, personally.

it depends on what level you play it on, and how quickly you move. an avg calorie burning is about 150 calories an hour for me
