i hurt my back and was going to a chiropractor everyday for a year!
he explained to me that i shouldnt crack my back or neck.
you have muscle tissue in between each of your discs in your spine. everytime you crack your neck it rubs those discs together and will eventually rub the tissue away. this is where the long time effects come in. it results in your discs rubbing together everytime you move and it will eventually shift your spine which will cause you neck and back problems when you are older. so if at all possible stop!! IhAvEaNsWeRs2104 answered Wednesday August 9 2006, 2:52 am: Honestly I have no idea if it is bad for you or if it can harm you in some way. I can tell you though that I have been doing it for about 3 years at least 2 times a day and there is nothing wrong with me but some people can be different so I really am not to sure about that.
Cj answered Tuesday August 8 2006, 11:54 pm: Nothing will happen. You will grow out of it. Just don't crack it too far. Otherwise you will hurt it. I use to do it. I don't do it any longer but I stopped for no reason at all. I kind of grew out of it. [ Cj's advice column | Ask Cj A Question ]
uisforukelele answered Tuesday August 8 2006, 11:12 pm: yes, it can cause harm in the long run. you know how you can tell when people pop their fingers by how big their fingers are? well, that's because it gets swollen from being cracked. same thing with your neck. it's just not good for your bones.
