if i run for a half hour to fourty-five minutes everyday for a month how much do u think it is possible to lose? i am 5'6 and 126 lbs. the doctor said its normal, but i just want to tone up my thighs and drop a few pounds. thanks!
You really burn approximately the same amount of calories whether you walk or run. Generally this amount is about 100 calories for every mile, it's just that running causes more of a cardiovascular response and conditions you better, and of course burns the 100 calories faster but is not really by any means a drastically different calorie burner over walking. One more thing, its not really neccessary to do this every single day. I dont know how fit you are, but even extremely fit people take a rest day every week. If you are relatively new to this ease your way into it.
As always though, watch what you eat. Make sure that you give your body the right fuel it needs to this sort of workload, eat small balanced meals etc etc.
holahayley56 answered Saturday August 5 2006, 3:03 pm: Pshh. you sound pretty skinny to me. But, walk don't run. You burn more calories walking. I take a 3 mile walk everyday & drink [well try too] 6-8 glasses of water. You'll lose 10 pounds, in like 2 weeks, doing that.
RockStoleMySoul answered Saturday August 5 2006, 2:44 pm: Honestly I think it's possible to lose up to 7 pounds...Maybe ten...depends how long you actually run and at what speed, etc. I've actually been doing this same thing and I have noticed a difference. I'm into my 3rd week now and my legs are more tone and my stomach as well. I've shed about 5 pounds...but then again you're probably going to gain muscle so...if you just want a nice body...how much you weigh doesn't matter...it's how your body looks. so if you do this and you look nice but you gain a pound...it would probably be a pound of muscle, so just try to get in shape..doesn't matter how much you weigh.
