well it depends on what level (modified, jv, varsity, etc.) you are trying out for and how good your schools team is. i'll tell you the requirements for my team. your try outs may not be as hard as ours because i am on varsity for one of the best teams in new york.

jumps [double toe-touch & around the world]

cheer [know all 30 cheers, one out of the thirty was called for us to execute (we didn't have to make one up)]

stunting for flyers [right left and middle splits, right and left heel stretch with snap up] [demonstrate 4 of the following optional stunts: Bow & Arrow, Speedy Scorpion, Chin-Chin, Scorpion w/Hand Pull or Point, Scale, Arabesque, Stretch Cross Over, Front Stretch, Front Arabesque, & twist from each stunt]

stunting for base & front/back spot [safely spot or base single legged stunts]

gymnastics/tumbling [standing back-handspring with optional 1 safety spotter and round-off back-handspring with optional 2 spotters. more points are awarded for standing/round-off back-handspring with no spotter & more advanced tumbling skills]

other elements [confident performance face with entertaining energy! great low/loud voices, super tight motions!]

if you don't know what some of this stuff is just ask me & i will explain it to you.

that depends... one that i know of, you have to practice in the summer and go to camp with the squad and know a whole routine and make up your own cheer. others just want someone that kinda knows what they are doing. ask someone who is on the squad at the school you want to try out for. <3

Most private schools aren't as hard as public schools because they usually have less people. As long as you are fit and have a perky personality you are usually gaurenteed in, but if you tried out at my school you would have had to cheerleaded your whole life and being able to do at running backhandspring back tuck

It really depends on the school. Some schools don't care too much as long as you can yell & do the basics. Other schools, however, require back flips and round offs, etc. I would sugguest at least knowing cartwheels, roundoffs, and other basic gymnastic moves. Sorry to not be so specific, but like I said..it depends.
