nervous well the school year is about to start up and so that also means that sports are too! i'm gonna be a sophmore and i play volleyball and i'm really excited and nervous about tryouts. is there any kind of things i can do before try outs to kind of calm myself down and give myself reassurance talks that i know i can do it and stuff. because i'm so scared that i'm almost set on that i'll be on a lower team than my friends. i think i really need a selfconfidence boost but i'm scared of having one and then not making the team. HELP! haha thanks!

i have the same problem all you have to do is calm down take a deep breath and just picture yourself making the team also maybe 1-2 weeks before tryouts start praticing with a friend to help you get more "into the mode" and youll prolly do alot better because youll be more confident. hope i helped. ]
It's always good to relax,have some training,practice with volleyball,like play with your friends,against other people, and you'll get used to it.When it comes to a serious game only focus on the game,act as if the only people watching are only you and the people going against you.Stretching helps too for flexing those muscles and gets your body ready for some activity like volleyball.Good luck! ]
Sometimes the same thing happens to me. I play travel volleyball and whenever i go to my tryouts, I know i am really good and will make a great team. But then I some how end up all nervous. What I do is before tryouts is listen to alot of loud music. Music that makes me pumped up! Then when i get there, I want to show off my skills and I try my best. Also what helps is if you dont think of it as a tryout, just think of it as a camp, or a practice session. Try your best. Remember to have a great attidtude, hustle and have fun! Most coaches like that about the players. Make sure if you make a mistake, just forget about it and try again and tell yourself " I am gonna get the next one!"

well what helps me is to absolutely not think about it until youre actually up there doing it.
if you worry about it and keep dwelling on it then it'll just scare the shit out you! maybe listen to your cd player or whatever really loud so you cant even think and just try not to concentrate on it << which is harder to do than say, i know.
i also try to get reaaaaally hyper before i do it because for me personally, i can be sort of shy, but when im hyper im one of the most outgoing people in the school! it'll make you feel more confident and you'll be too hyper to notice that people arelooking at you or anything!
and dont be scared, im sure you'll be fine, and if you do screw up, then oh well. you can go on the lower team till you prove yourself to get to the higher team maybe? or if it just sucks too bad than you can quit. anyway good luck to ya ]
