Cat Scratch Fever

Question Posted Monday July 31 2006, 12:01 pm

My sister, 40/f, was scratched by her kitten a couple weeks ago and was feeling ill so she went to the hospital. They informed her she has Cat Scratch Fever...Yes, it's a real disease!

I have researched this for her, but I cannot seem to find out how long her symptoms are supposed to last.

Has anyone out there experienced Cat Scratch Fever, and if so would you please share it with me? Any help is appreciated!

Well , I have been injured and it was an opened wound.
So to stay clear from infection, i was taking Cepalexin, which is a pill.
That might be good to take to prevent bacteria and infections from growing .
Good luck!

My mom had cat scratch fever as a kid and she said she almost had to have her leg taken off. So i would be carefull and make she no one touches the area where she was scratched.

INCUBATION
It typically takes 3 to 10 days for a blister or small bump to appear at the site of a scratch or bite. Lymph node swelling usually begins about 1 to 4 weeks later.

DURATION
The inoculation lesion where the bacteria entered the body usually takes days to heal. The swollen lymph nodes typically disappear within 2 to 4 months, although they occasionally last much longer.
