not eating

Question Posted Saturday July 22 2006, 10:41 pm

16/f
For the passed few months I haven't been eating much. The only thing I eat during the day is breakfast, usually poptarts. The rest of the day I'm not hungry AT ALL and no matter how hard I try to eat.. I just can't. I used to eat A LOT but now I hardly eat at all. What happened??? I'm kind of scared.

Additional info, added Sunday July 23 2006, 6:55 pm:
I know it's not just the summer doing it to me because I would eat a lot at the beginning of summer. I was talking to someone and they said it could be unconscious anorexia because when I look in the mirror I see this huge person. I'm 5'6 135 lbs. Could there be something wrong with my blood sugar or thyroid? My eating habits were healthy (besides the poptarts) before I stopped eating. Could it be because I work out ALL the time? .

Your body got used to not eating. Just try to eat healthy foods so you can receive enough energy throughout the day.

thats not good, but dont get yourself worried over it cause you could get anxiety and that wouldnt be good either. go to your doctor and ask him. trust me, youll be glad you did! and do it before its too late. good luck :]

Okay, i can't answer your question about why you are not hungry, but i would try eating just a few strawberries or grapes or some kind of fruit for lunch even when you are not hungry. Then your body is still getting a little sugar. Also, when i am not hungry i get what is called a instant carnation breakfast. I get the chocolate ones, and you mix them with milk, and it just tastes like chocolate milk (these are good for any meal though). That way i know my body is getting what it needs and i didnt have to eat a whole meal. If i were you i would ask your parent about why you are not hungry and maybe go see a doctor about it if it continues. I hope i helped. <3

My first suggestion would be to schedule an appointment with your doctor. It could simply be your metabolism changing or something simple like that, but considering that you are only eating poptarts, that isnt the healthiest thing in the world for you.

One of the first things the doctor will do is probably a blood test. What other sort of symptoms have you been having? Do you have trouble sleeping? Are your periods regular? Are you gaining or loosing a lot of weight? Are you tired all of the time? Be sure to be able to answer those types of questions when you see the doc.

Maybe you should talk about it with your parents or a doctor. I don't really know what to say because I never had that kind of problem, but, if I did, I would atleast try to do something about it.
