Originally it was meant to refer to a young someone who was 'new to the game' And by new to the game, I don't mean a rapper, someone who sells crack, or whatever. In even simpler terms, it's a word to describe someone who is much younger than you.
These days commercial rappers have turned it into something completely different. They refer to shorty as an affectionate word used to describe a girlfriend or attractive female. Below are a list of other definitons people have now given the word:
- A young, attractive, teenage female.
- A name some men will call out to a woman they don't know in order to talk to her.
- A man will sometimes refer to a woman as shorty when he thinks of her as no more than a 'fuck buddy' or a 'female friend'.

It`s jus what guys like to call girls because usualy they are shorter then them. But also people just use it to say toher people are short because they are taller then them.
