220 pounds.

Question Posted Wednesday July 12 2006, 9:31 pm

14/f

I'm fourteen years old, and I weigh 220 pounds. I don't look like I weigh that much because I'm 5'6, but I still look big. I really want to lose like 80 pounds before October, but I have no clue where to start. I'd like to start as soon as possible. It's weird, because I think I have a really pretty face but I'm big. I was watching this video from a wedding I was in and I look really fat compared to all the other girls in my family. Plus diabetes is common in my family and I want to be healthy. Please help. =(

Okay, first of all you have to change your focus from feeling fat and unpretty, to feeling slim and beautiful. The more you feel like it's true, the more good thoughts, feelings, and emotions you will experience in association with your body. It is good to leave some time every day for a visualization or meditation, during which you will let go of all your worries and fears concerning your physical condition. You should get as many good feelings and emotions about your body as you can, because it changes the state of vibration you're in. If you feel good about yourself, if you believe that you're already lean, fit, and pretty, it would be much easier to do physical exercises, eat light, healthy food, and take good care about your body, because we are more willing to keep the good that we have, than run from the bad that we hate.

Oh, and one thing about physical exercising. When you're doing them, keep your mind completely unfocused on what you do, and NEVER count! For example, if you count while doing squatting, then every squat would be a part of the-end-of-the-torment count down. If you can, distract your mind from the physical work while exercising. Read the poems or play the song lyrics in your mind. Just find a way to make it fun.

And also don't forget to discuss your weight losing plans with your family doctor, or if you don't have one, with your parents, to make sure that you're doing it safely.

I hope it helped you a little.

Hope those help.

Also drink LOTS and LOTS of water. To the point where you can't stand to drink it. Walk, walk, walk. That's so important. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk around your house 10 times. That's exercise. You can slowly move up to jogging and then running.

Oh, and losing that much weight by October would be very dangerous. Don't focus on the weight, and don't weigh yourself more than once a week. Our weight fluxuates naturally. Pick one day a week that you'll weigh, and stick with it. Weigh yourself early in the morning before you eat/drink/do anything. Keep a log of your weight, as well as a log of your food AND drink intake. Write down if you have a glass of water, or two glasses. Then if your weight goes up one week you may be able to see WHY. Muscle weighs more than fat so if you are exercising, your weight will probably go up a few pounds at first. Do NOT let that freak you out.

Last but not least just a few more tips: Cut out soda completely. Don't drink it AT ALL! No regular, no diet, no soda - period. You can do it if you put your mind to it! Drink lots of water, like I said, and walk as much as possible. Eat four or five small meals daily instead of three large ones. Don't go back for seconds. Don't starve yourself and don't skip meals - your body will break down and go into "starvation mode" and you'll actually gain weight.

Good luck.

well your going to have to eat only 2000 calories a day, and excersize off 4000 calories a day (this will lose you one pound) but keep in mind, you dont want to overexcersize, its not healthy. EAT BETTER. seriously, dont eat sodas those are SO bad for you!! they decay your teeth if you drink them too much and are full of sugar

just cut down a little on your meals. not a lot, but just a little. because people are really only supposed to eat until theyre 80% full instead of 100%, if they wana stay skinny.

dont starve yourself, but only eat until your 80% full, so your still only a little tiny bit hungry for each meal.

also, dont eat any snacks. you can eat some, like once a week, but definently not everyday.

also, go to the gym and work out, or stretch and do sit ups and v-ups and pushups and lunges and squats and stuff at home, everyday.

just keep doing this everyday, and you'll lose a lot.

You need motivation.

Go to myfooddiary.com/charles and read the story about Charles, who tipped in at 562 pounds on a scale. He kept an online food log and watched what he ate.

Go to calorie-count.com, and sign up for an account. Track what you eat. When you sign up, you'll have customizable options that fit you. Let's say that I am 5'5, and I'm 128 pounds and want to be 126, [I'm not, just using this as an example]. My calorie-count.com log says that I should eat about 1200 calories a day to achieve my goal. On calorie-count, you can see what 'nutrional grade' the item of food gets, and the pros and cons of the food item. It's really helpful and gets you aware of eating healthy.

For example, I used to eat Lunchables every day when I didn't have enough time to fix something for lunch. Lunchables has close to 500 calories, and 7 grams of saturated fat, when you're only supposed to have 180 calories and 2 grams of saturated fat. See the difference? On the other hand, I eat Lean Cuisine instead of those crappy Lunchables. The food is much more delicious, and has a lot of protein in it.

Just take the initiative and work towards your goal. Don't get discouraged. It will work out only if you stick to your routine and get motivated.

Hope I helped!
